My brother-in-law made me these decorative birdhouses a few years ago. I brought them to the beach for a little photo shoot.

Comments (15)Thanks Dawn! I'm sorry for all the work mom and dad went to just to loose the babies. As soon as I noticed them sitting in the bush I watched like a hawk and removed every piece of nesting material as they brought it but we were gone for a long weekend and by the time we got back the nest was built and had an egg. Comments (14)Nicole, I have had a couple other varieties of Spurge that I would call invasive, but not Polychroma. Both my daughter and I have been growing it for years and find it easily controlled. Rarely have I had it reseed, and even then it is easily removed or transplanted. We do cut it back after flowering, just cause it looks better and keeps it from flopping open as it gets taller. Now, Spurge Chameleon is invasive. I have been fighting it for 17 years. Pulled out 2 plants of it yesterday. It shows up every year in the most unexpected places....See More
9 years agoIn much of SE Asia, it is very common to see spirit houses. They can be very small and plain all the way to large and elaborate. The spirit house provides shelter for spirits
that could cause problems for the people if not appeased. The shrines
often include images of people and animals. Offerings of food, drink,
incense and flowers are left to nurture the spirits. In return the
spirits offer protection and good fortune.I was out walking in Bangkok one day when I came across this spirit house. Apparently, the spirits visited in the form of pigeons that day.

I went out to see the CA poppy bloom in the Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve. Just gorgeous!
