Anyone grow Easter Basket?
Comments (5)I got one this season. Mine is still in a big 18" pot, waiting for me to get the last beds designed. My plant bloomed maybe three times, and so far it's stayed smallish. Like 3ft x 3ft. But, this was its first season here. The blooms were very pale. Looked nothing like the pics on HMF. Very light yellow with barely a hint of pink; and unfortunately, it does quickly fade to white. But I think it will change some next season, and no matter what, I think I'm going to like it a lot!!...See MoreEaster basket critters
Comments (5)When my kids were little I used to fill their baskets with age appropriate items using a Spring theme. You might find a blanket or bib or onesie with chicks or bunnies for the baby. A bunny or chick rattle or some duckie bath toys. Little books are good too. I stayed away from candy and junk toys and stuck to real toys and useful items with maybe just a bit of candy and a small chocolate bunny. One tradition was the Easter Bunny and Santa would always add a new toothbrush. The kids also got their first swimsuit of the season in their Easter baskets for several years....See MoreEaster Baskets
Comments (18)I too was going to suggest an alternative "basket". Possibly a nice basket they can use for storage, or perhaps a plastic tote? Backpack, fannypack, computer bag, etc. You can decorate it anyway you like. There's also the reuseable bags from stores they shop which is a gift that keeps giving if they get credit each time they use them. Otherwise, they take up virtually no room and can be used for a myriad of things. I really like your idea of the necessities and functional things. Especially for someone whose funds might be tight. And treats vary by person too. Perhaps some beef jerky, cheese, or a bottle of wine, etc, would be more appreciated than sweets to some. The spirit (no pun intended) is there. A friend of mine each year would give his grandmother a small but good ham, a small loaf of bakery/special bread, some of her favorite fresh veggies and a dessert of some sort. Sized in amounts she could handle with just a few leftovers if any. She loved to cook but Social Security was her sole income so some things like these were luxuries to her. She was thrilled at the thoughtfulness. Each person is different. Perhaps a prepaid phone card and your phone # on it? As a hint! ;) Gas card, prepaid Visa/MC will get used and appreciated. Are there any spices they like but don't buy? Keep your mind, eyes and ears open for things they want and need....See MoreEaster basket stuff for college kid?
Comments (26)My In-Laws give me an Easter basket and I LOVE IT! I don't get stuff like that anymore and it's just fun and thoughtful. I'll usually get a gift card or money and other smaller things. She always adds a toothbrush and shaving gel/cream; sometimes even toothpaste. At first I thought these items were a little odd just because that was never the type of stuff our Easter baskets had when growing up, but I appreciate that they're practical things I'll use. I look forward to that now. Sometimes I'll have little cute hand sanitizers, chap stick, a candle and always a little bit of candy. I get a Christmas stocking from them too! :)...See MoreFun2BHere
