Work boots?
Comments (28)OK I went into town to check on the 10" logger RedWings. The ones I looked at were Made in America. No size 14s though. He will order the ones I want. The steel toe with insulated liner was NOT replaceable at $165. I'll have to say it was a real nice boot though. I was also interested in waterproof knee boots. They had a pair for $104 that were Made in China. The quality was terrible. No arch. No shape to it. The boot was worth about $30 maximum. It must have cost $2.00 to make it. Sorry...NO DEAL! You can have a quality rubber snow boot Made in America for half that price which is why I think some of the manufacturers have overdone it by high-tailing it out of this country so soon. Side note: I have seen some small 30" wide Chinese bathroom vanities with sink going for $1200 with no plumbing! Quality control was terrible as I saw it, with factory made damage to the doors. You tell me you can't make the same vanity for $200 in the US and have a reasonable profit with quality and keep someone employed....See Moregarden shoes or boots
Comments (13)I don't worry about special shoes right now, wear my moccasins every day; if it's wet wear my rubber slip on boots (can't remember the name for them), if it's really slippery and cold, put on my camping boots. Later, I'll dig out my shot moccasins with the hole in the toe. Those are my everyday, normal gardening shoes in nice weather. This winter I have been constantly changing, won't have to so much in the nicer weather. I bought several nice throw rugs for high traffic areas, a lot of good that has done - not, but they get crooked after walking on them a few times, washable which I like. The most critical area, I have 3, and the cat just loves to mess them up; try to straighten them every day. My carpeting is shot and dirty anyway, so I don't worry about it right now. Coming in from the back, there's vinyl flooring, then two steps, then more vinyl flooring in back hall and on into the kitchen, so that's easy to sweep and mop. Coming in from the front, by the time I get up 5 steps, the cement slab porch, wipe my feet on the thick jute mat, and enter the vinyl tiled foyer, then large, heavy cotton throw rug on the carpet by there, most of the dirt is gone. Sometimes I do have to take a paring knife and scrape the bottoms and sides of my shoes into the kitchen wastebasket. What I want most are some comfortable golf shoes. Those would help some aerating the lawn, and especially useful on my terraces which I now have to crawl up on my hands and knees to plant and weed one side so not much weeding gets done there. If I had golf shoes, I think I could walk up my terraces again without worrying about slipping and falling....See Morecatching snakes/ repelling them
Comments (44)I have just encountered snake (garter) number 2 on my kitchen countertop! Now I am not about to lie about being someone who is going to be concerned about killing a snake that finds my kitchen a happy habitat. I live in Minnesota, we have just been through a long winter, but I cannot live with these things in my kitchen! We started seeing them about 3 years ago when a development began across the street - we first saw them in the basement in the fall, then spring, last fall was when I found the first one on my countertop. I am at my wits end!! They can live in my yard, but not in my home!!! We do have rock around the foundation and around the deck of our above-ground pool, We dont have much for heavy shrubs around the house and we keep them trimmed. There is an open field on ten acres next to us which Im sure has a nice population of mice. We have yet to find a mouse in our house, but thats likely because the snakes may be getting them. We thought we found how they were getting in, closed it off, didnt see any for a year, but now they are back. Now what? Do we have to dig up around the entire foundation to look for other entry points to get rid of them? Or should we get a cat or mouse traps, we also live where there is much marshy land, which the frogs/toads like. Help I am getting desperate!!!...See Moretrying to catch up....
Comments (8)Karen, glad to hear that you are feeling a little better. I can surely relate to all you have been dealing with. We had the last of our 3 family weddings yesterday, this time my son's. It was a beautiful day and the wedding was just beautiful. It was an outside wedding and reception and it couldn't have been lovelier. She used fall flowers and deco's and her dress was ivory, and after the service, they had a lovely barbecue dinner with great food. I really enjoyed it= the fact that it waas the last of 3 in 3 months time, (also a grand daughter and a grandson) When I finally got home last night, the fibro really hit me. I was so tired and achey that I went to bed at 8:oo. My Dh woke me up this morn and asked if I was going to church, but when I looked at the clock it was 10:10, so I said "I guess not today" I"ve just been dragging all day long, and am so achey I can hardly move without moaning and groaning. I don't think the weather forcast is helping any either , we are supposed to start getting rain tonight that will last through Thursday. I thought if I could just get through these weddings, I would feel better, but I guess the Fibro devil had other plans. I am glad that you are feeling better though. Maybe what is really wrong with me is that I haven't had my "retial therapy" for a couple of weeks. Maybe I just need a few hours out of the house by myself. Take care, Janet...See Moremamapinky0
