Mystery Flowering shrub/bush

My neighbor gave me a bush/shrub yesterday. She doesn't know what it is. She says it spreads underground. Any ideas?

What she gave me

A flower from her bush - she says the colors change purplish blue to pink to white

I'm nearly certain that's an (accursed) caragana. They are hardier than I can believe. Those are the yellow flowers in the picture, right? Some of them are more invasive than others, some have spines and some don't. I think the older plants were mostly planted to hold soil in place, which they're very good at. Do the seed pods make an audible "pop" when they are ripe, flinging seeds everywhere? Afterwards they would look like . . . this From Mystery plants or sometimes more spiralled. If it hasn't yet taken over the entire surrounding area, I suppose it might just be safe there. I'm currently trying to get rid of mine, and have read all sorts of discouraging things about how impossible it is to eradicate! It does have one winning feature (besides its hardiness). If I'm right, one can eat the flowers, and they are quite tasty - or at least the nectar in them is. Don't eat the seeds, though, they're very poisonous. Anyway, don't eat the flowers either, just in case I'm wrong!

Spirea...probably van houtti...called bridal wreath. If it needs pruning, prun it just after blooming so it has time to grow back more stems that will make buds next spring. Don't prune it now. Lovely, isn't it? Linda C

Ken, not sure of your question....If you are asking about the color change of the flowers, I believe Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow refers to the color the flowers show from one day to the next...Yesterday they were purple, today they are lavender pink, & tomorrow they will be white.

After looking online re: Brunfelsia pauciflora (possibly a Brunfelsia austalis), it seems these plants/shrub/bushes are supposed to be hardy to zones 9&10. We are in 8b and we have had several days/nights at below freezing this winter although not for more than 3-4 days in length. About the same type of temps in years past, only this year winter has been milder. This plant to my knowledge has never died back. So it seems to be hardier than the gardening sites say it is. The only thing I see differently than pics on the web is the number of flowers. The one my neighbor has doesn't bloom as fully as some shown. Adding also that, neighbor says it's highly fragrant.
