..ok..I turned it..in my head I mean..this way and that way..the recliners can't really be angled-they're too large for the space, unless you switch them with the sofa..but the sofa next to the window will eat some of the light. You can put sofa along the wall-but side tables will look awkward then unless your're getting rid at least of one of the them. I thought-how about putting the side tables with lamps next to the recliners but closer to the sofa? But then it's harder to get to the recliners, the side tables become obstacles. You can switch the left one places, but then these two identical side tables would look strange being on diagonal one from another. I would move the bookshelves along the wall so they don't flunk the fireplace-but they're needed where they are.

So. At this point, to me-it's down to styling. Doing the best with what you've got. And you've got many pieces in a small room, and some are big. (Unless you want to start changing things drastically and if you don't/can't it's very understandable..since it's a PITA)

I cannot see your collections on the bookshelves that well..so hard to give exact advice. But I'd group smaller items as much as I can, decide what stays on bookshelves what can be moved (and if something can be moved-I'd move it..)is it a ship on the top of the left one? It's cool. But the rest, I can not see:) You know them better than be..decide what stays, and if everything has to-group it by subject, and overlap the small photos in frames, and as much as possible take the visually heavy items to the bottom shelves(I know not possible with a TV thing)

I like your ship so much I'd give it a central space, maybe trying to fit it within one of the central shelves. It it fits, height wise. If it stays where it is-it's cool. Then I'd try to clear the top of the other shelf or reduce the amount of items there.

I'd add a rug, for softness. I like your red guitar..:) I'd use this color again, somewhere. I'd bring a couple of new throw pillows. I'd get an additional throw-your is cool, but I'd add something patterned. Plaid maybe? Navy plus white plus red? But it can be anything as long as you love it. Check on eBay-they've got so so many cool plaids there. Of course you can get it anywhere, I'm just influenced by plaids I saw there-they make them in Ireland..feast for the eyes. But in any case-won't shy away from pattern. Whether in a throw blanket, throw pillows, or a rug. Or all of them. You've nothing to loose-you have a smaller room with bigger pieces. You embrace it and say "ok, that's our living, it has stuff we need, it's crazily comfy too". I'f bring a bigger plant. Oh yes. Maybe I'd bring several- couple medium, one big? Plants soften, enliven, never look like clutter. Oh, stop. You have cats? You'll need to google what's poisonous for them what's not. Tons of info on the internet.

You know what? with all the challenges-it's a cool room. The bones are good. It has something very alive about it. Try to take smallish stuff somewhere for now..for an hour? I don't know. And look at it. At the room I mean. See what it wants. See what stuff goes back and how it will be arranged. Take clues from your favorite pieces for accessories. Orange as in a ship? red as in the guitar? Cream white as it your statues collection?

Give it some colors, softer textures..exchange some smaller stuff with bigger stuff-sounds counter intuitive, but with accessories it's different than with furnishings..you want them to make impact because if they're there it means you love them. So if they're small group them. If you buy new-go big.
