Spring in South Dakota
Comments (28)Hey glo2001 just drop me an e-mail at (hladdengast@yahoo.com) I atually do get most of them localy, athough I order anually from Coenosium. There's a few great nurseries in the area. Most 'specialty' conifers in this are all come from Iseli. I know all the garden center people and will request certain plants. I just picked up a whole tray of fancifull gardens plants from a nursery in Spirit Lake. Spencer Ia. has a good nursery as does Spirit Lake Ia. But by far the best area nursery is in Aurora S.D. owned by Norm Evers. He's developed a few of the plants offered by Iseli. Mostly thuja occidentalis, 'Rushmore' and 'Norm Evers', and pinus mugo Tannenbaum', definately worth the trip. Norm is a great guy a wealth of knowledge. Would love to have you over for a garden tour, your just around the corner, this is a good day...See MoreHead south Omar!
Comments (24)We are still iced in, RC, but weatherman says above freezing for a short period today. Of course, all that means is that it will just refreeze tonight. I am so ready for sunshine and warmth..........this weather really affects my personality...............LOL>...See MoreWonderful Trip to South Dakota
Comments (9)How fun Jana!! We took a motor home trip out there 2 summers ago with our twin sons and had the time of our lives! The Badlands are amazing. One of my boys loved Mt. Rushmore and one...not so impressed. We have two older dds that we didn't do many of the trips we should have. Making up for lost time with these two. Hope you made it to the "Corn Palace" ;-)...See MoreBadlands of South Dakota...
Comments (11)Sort of off topic...I lived in MN, too, Joan. In Duluth. I have to say when we moved to PA and then here to NC I swore I didn't care if I ever saw another snowflake. We're native Kentuckians and were totally out of our element. BTW, my husband was with a newspaper corporation and he made me go with him. ;) The coldest in SD was -38 and the hottest was 108. I can't imagine how enough early settlers survived to establish the state. Solstice, I admire your hardiness!...See Morejim_1 (Zone 5B)
