Comments (2)Are you talking about nepeta faassenii? I grow 'Walkers Low' and 'Six Hills Giant' and have a lot of plants, but planted as edgers (where I can reach them) and not as a ground cover. I use a cordless B&D Hedgehog trimmer to cut back these big plants. I wouldn't want them planted so that I could not walk between them to do the clean up. I cut back after blooms, in fall, and in spring. It would be difficult to walk on because of a very mounding habit -- and the bees are all over it (a good thing) when in bloom. Nepeta requires full sun and good drainage. The deer and rabbits won't touch it. IMHO, it repels mosquitoes. Cameron...See MoreGround Cover for Succulents. Rock Vs. Bark

But I notice that in a lot of other regions, the availability varies. You can usually order stuff special if you have the budget, and a reliable stoneyard will "import" it from another part of the country. But the places that carry only native/local materials may be able to offer only sandstone, limestone, or whatever the regional "stone du jour" happens to be....See MoreEmbothrium
