Need exterior paint and roof color help ASAP! Photoshoppers?
Comments (6)That is an attractive house. I like painted brick and there's a lot of it in my neighborhood. "Off-white" is a lot of range, though--some off-whites are grayish and others are creamish, for example. I like creamy better than cooler tones, but that's me. Some pretty painted brick houses in my neighborhood are: warm gray with white trim and charcoal shutters cream with sage/taupe-y trim and shutters sage green with black shutters and there's also an electric periwinkle blue with white trim and black shutters, but that's a controversial choice among my neighbors... I wanted a black garage door and the garage door guy said that around here (Kentucky) a black door won't stand up to the heat, as black absorbs more sunlight than other colors. So, you may want to find out if that's true where you are. Or even true at all--maybe he was wrong....See MoreExterior ? Need help asap!
Comments (10)I would definitely do a brick and paint the house all one color. I think this would greatly improve the house and make it look bigger with uniformity. It would also hide the addition and make it look as though it had always been there. Vinyl siding can really be a negative for re-sale. I have it on the back side of our home and have plans to eventually stucco those parts to match our pool decking, cabana, etc. Imagine your home all brick and painted a nice creamy taupe color with new long shutters to compliment, a larger entrance/walkway with big urns and plantings to make it grander; your front door painted a diff. color to stand out (I would remove the storm door..just my preference. Oops..sorry I just realized I offered more suggestions than you asked for! Would definitely brick and paint though....See MoreLA Art Teacher Who Loves Color Needs Help!
Comments (7)If for a house body color you stay in the zone of medium-light grey to taupe, with white trim, the house will look happy and pleasant. It will go with anything in the neighborhood without being offensive. Here's one example. Here's another. And one more. The grey/taupe scheme does not need to be personality free. You can tint sparingly with about any color (reds/blues/greens) to lean it in a direction without the overall color being too strong. If you go with light body and dark color trim, I think the look tends toward harsh or ghoulish. There are extremes of grey/taupe that go too far. "Battleship" grey would be too far in my opinion. And don't go too far in the brown direction (as it is now.) Keep in mind that outdoor colors need to be darker than typical indoor colors or they will look washed out in the sun. Once you start thinking of colors that seems appealing to you, be sure to get some small, inexpensive samples from the big box paint store and try them out in real life before you take the plunge and commit to painting the whole house. Here are some very general ideas about how you might organize plants and walk. That tree next to the house (which is too close to it) sure needs to be limbed up....See MoreHelp! Comments (33)great house. I think tan is a horrible choice! sorry, but with all that beautiful greenery and foilage, painting it tan wouldn't look right. (especially w/your color roof) If you did more of a warm gray and addded in some shake/shingles, along w/your siding, I think that would look a lot better. love the orange door w/this too. if you like the green grays, have you tried any of these w/a crisp white? I also don't care for a depressing gray shade, unless you're doing another color w/the trim/doors/windows. what about a blue or blue gray? I like this combo that Celery listed: I like this one too (I believe it's Grizzle Gray paired w/a crisp white trim and a warmer red accent) I belive the key is doing a bright white trim w/whatever color you choose. the current creamier trim color you have looks dull. Personally I like the darker colors that match the greenery. I don't think they stand out (and if they do, in a good way, who cares?) I think either of these w/some wood accents, would look amazing w/your green landscaping...See Morenicholsworth Z6 Indianapolis
