Member Page, My Rose List
Comments (19)I, too, am trying to update my member page, I have been planning to work on it all winter, but it just never got done. Some of my hyperlinks do not work anymore and I have been wanting to fix them before I posted my list. I have updated my member page, but Garden Web renders the page differently than it appears on my screen. For some reason it displays with thick lines around some of the cells. It is also VERY slow to load so I need to work on it some more. Connie, let me know when your bloom season starts so I can take the scenic route home from the 'Burg. You have a very impressive list. Comments (8)I have a young plant of Cels Multiflora, bought as a band last June. It has small, pink fluffy flowers, often several to a stem, and is already quite a prolific bloomer. It's not what you would call a sensational rose, but it may develop more personality as it matures. I'm quite happy with it even now and for me it has no disease problems. It seemed happier when it was warmer so I'll see what happens once we get past this unusually cool spring weather. I don't grow your other two roses but have heard good things about them. Enjoy! Comments (10)Of the ones on your list I have Veteran's Honor, Bride's Dream, St. Patrick, Paradise, Over the Moon, Ebb Tide, and had Neptune and Perfect Moment. Perfect Moment and Neptune both perished after that bad Easter 07 freeze, and I had problems with Perfect Moment wintering over anyway at my other house. Although it is flamboyantly colored, it is not fond of winter. Neptune did not do all that well for me. It was marginal here. I have seen it elsewhere along the coast and in pictures from others living near the coast somewhere, and to me it looks like it likes a coastal climate with some kind of ocean air influence. My St. Patrick is only now blooming for the first time this year because it took a hard hit over winter. It doesn't like winter either, but it likes the heat, or so we would be led to believe. Paradise has done reasonably well for me. It is a nice rose overall and one of my favorite lavenders. Veteran's Honor is a good, solid red rose. Just don't be surprised if its first flowers after planting are off-color. Sometimes they are pink to begin with, but they come out red later on with plant maturity. My Over the Moon was just put out this year and hasn't done a lot, but the flowers it has had have been okay. I think it just needs time and cooler weather. Bride's Dream resembles Royal Highness, its parent. The flowers are almost indistinguishable in appearance. However, Royal Highness is fragrant while Bride's Dream isn't very fragrant. Bride's Dream outblooms Royal Highness normally. Bride's Dream is also less winter-tender. Ebb Tide is a purple color, but the purple is variable with the weather. In cooler temps it is more purple while in hot weather it is more burgundy to red. This is not unusual for the mauve/purple/lavenders in hot weather. I hope my two cents worth helps....See MoreI've already started my rose list for next year. . .
Comments (5)Yes, Kate, and I blame all of you for enabling me!!! Convincing me to place a 2nd fall rose order! Endangering my planned trip to the camellia garden nursery! Infecting me w/ 'what's over the next hill' disease! Tantalizing, tempting and luring me into 'money poor, rose rich' land! I ordered 2 roses in spring '06, 2 in spring '07, then 5 in the summer, now it's fall and I've gotten 6 and 3, and just ordered another 6, and I'm trying to add 1 add'l rose to my order!!! What do you call this? Exponential growth? maybe LUNACY would fit better! While I have quite a bit of space, I don't envision it being swallowed up by roses! I like low care shrubs and perennials- anything that doesn't have to be mowed! Brandy...See More- 7 years agolast modified: 7 years agoMichael H 6b NY thanked Lynn-in-TX-Z8b- Austin Area/Hill Country
