Can I Get 2 Much of Any 1 Material in My Lasagna Garden Layers?
Comments (8)just me 6 - kimmsr usually writes alot about the 30:1 nitrogen to carbon ratio so here's a clip from a prior thread (end result = apx 6" brown to 2" green - some things are more "brown" than others & would need more greens)- also remember that moisture & air are factors: Posted by kimmsr 4a/5b-MI (My Page) on Tue, May 1, 07 at 6:51 The 30 refers to the amount of Carbon that is needed if you have the 1 of Nitrogen the bacteria that will digest that Carbon need to function. The bacteria use Nitrogen to make the proteins their bodies need to function. It is kind of like a cake recipe that calls for 4 cups of flower and a teaspoon of salt, it is a ratio of ingrediants. The cake recipe could have a ratio of 30 parts flour to 1 part salt but that would not make much sense to anyone. The 3 parts of X to 1 part of Y is a better way for most of use to see that 30:1. 6 inches of vegetative waste to 2 inches of manure is one way to easily visualize that 30:1 ratio. The vegetative waste will have some N and the manure will have some C but they pretty well balance in the end....See MoreAnyone ever have issues with 5:1:1 staying too moist?
Comments (3)First off, I hope you are ok or going to be ok....That' s a terrible ordeal to deal with....So sorry... Hopefully your trees will bring you much joy once you get the mix down right....Please do share a pic with us of the mix taken from the top of your pots and then a look from the bottom of the top, the bottom of the mix. We'll get this right and it's true, seems like the more we nurture them, the more they bug us...lol Now, I water and walk away to be surprised upon a close inspection once in a while to see all the flowers and fruit that have managed to be thrown my way.. Don't get mr wrong, I DO nurture them once the ball is in my court when they are cooped up in the house left for the pest invaders... Hello Rhizo and Josh! Comments (84)I agree with the majority, the little beasties are a true pest! I always thought they were the workhorse of nature and that their good out-weighed the bad but no more! I have great soil and mulch with different kinds of things, pine needles, bark mulch and straw from my chickens. They have multiplied into the thousands. The last 2 years they have eaten off the sprouts of my Angel Trumpets so bad that they have failed to bloom for the last two years. They are in the dead stems from the previous years growth. I can't eliminate them unless I dig up the plant and cut away those stems. It is not happening because the clumps are very large and I worked hard to get them established. They are also in the hostas and in my tomatoes. They get in every house plant that I put out over the summer and I have to repot everything every year or lose them over the winter because the little turds eat the roots and leaves of my house plants. I am ready to use whatever I have to do to eliminate them. I have plenty of birds and toads, frogs and parasitic bugs in my garden, I encourage spiders and all other good bugs and even my chickens will not eat them. I tried and suffered the damage from my chickens in the hopes that they would eliminate the little buggers. Spinosad is a natural organic method of killing pests the same as Bt has been used to eliminate cabbage worms. It is also the ingredient in Comfortis that I give my dogs for flea control. I will try the beer but if it dosen't work I am going to bring out the big guns!!!...See MoreCraftsman 1/2 H/P Garage door starts down, then goes back up
Comments (14)Operation will not be any different if you remove them or if they are broken as the door will not operate properly without the sensors inplace and functional. The lights need to be on for both the sender and reciever sensors and they need to detect each other. One simple check is to have them connected to the main unit and bring them together with the lenses facing each other. The sender (if powered) will always have a lit LED. The LED on the reciver will only light when it detects the sender. The reciever light needs to be on solidly with no flickering. If the sensors are not functioning the door will not close close. It will try, stop, and the opener incandescent light bulbs will flash 10 times. Holding the wall button down will override the sensors and allow the door to close. The wall button muist be held for the full closure of the door. Hope that helps....See More- 9 years ago
