cooking mishaps

Since I said in the other blog about how I used to cook in a restaurant, I will tell you about my fiasco weeks ago. I was out in Rapid City with my friend who has cancer. I took my friend to the hospital for an IV because she had been getting dehydrated. Her daughter was bringing her back home. I knew it would be late before they got home, so I thought I would make supper. I went down in the basement and got 2 packages of ground elk. I thawed it in the microwave and had put my eggs and spices and onions in a bowl, for meatballs. Then I looked and I only saw a half of sleeve of crackers. My friend could hardly eat anything, but she could keep down broth and crackers. I didn't want to use all the crackers so I found some veggie sticks in the cupboard and I crushed them up to put in the meatballs. I floured the meatballs and fried them and put them on low. I peeled 4 potatoes and put them on to boil for mashed potatoes. When they were soft I mashed them but they didn't have any milk for them, I thought I will use some of the creamer for it instead. They had 2 bottles of it and I knew one was coconut. I thought the other one was plain. It was French Vanilla. Let me tell you that did not work. I made gravy with the drippings. The gravy was good, but it could not cover up the vanilla potatoes. The dog is the only one who ate the potatoes. I said I was practicing to get on CHOPPED. I don't think I would have gotten very far though.

Does anyone else want to add their fiasco?
