Recommend your soap dispenser
Comments (11)Hi Ak. NeverMT is the name of the nifty gadget I, and many of us here, use. It has tubing that connects from the bottom of the soap disposer under the sink to a bottle of whatever liquid soap or detergent you want. The bottle cab be whatever size you want. This is sooooooo much easier than refilling the little plastic bottle that comes with the disposer. If you google around GW, you'll find some folks who have made their own with tubing and whatever else is needed. I'm not that handy so bought mine. Comments (36)Can anyone recommend a dispenser with a LONG spout? The one we have now (Price Pfister) has an utterly useless 2" spout. I have found a 3 7/8" spout, also 3 1/2", but am wondering if there are any that are longer. The new sink is 10" deep. We weren't going to get a new soap dispenser, but after reading this thread, I thought, "I don't want ugly bottles on my new granite!" I could do a rack mounted on the sink cabinet door, but I think the dispenser is neater :-) It just needs a long spout so it can actually squirt dish soap into the pots, instead of dribbling down the side of the sink. Will definitely get a NeverMT--so glad that I heard of it here!...See MorePros/cons of built in soap dispenser?
Comments (31)didn't have one installed on granite installation. wished i had. I am disabled, (wheelchair, arthritis, fatigue issues), so going under the sink for the bottle is more work for me, and with a modern kitchen design, don't want clutter of bottle on counter. Did have moen auto detection (senses when you put your hands in front of it. One can also disable feature, so win win). Godsend. Aides like it too. Figure is next buyer doesn't like it, they can get their own. Will be installing soap dispensers in kitchen and bathrooms myself soon, though I doo like the bathroom auto dispenser , yet it takes up space....See MorePlacement of Air Switch, Air Gap, spray and soap dispenser
Comments (4)Ditto to Breezygirl's point #2. I am linking a thread on why you don't need an air gap, and/or if your Code requires one, what to do about that (i.e. substitute the soap dispenser after the inspector leaves). Also, are you sure you want a side spray? A faucet with a built-in spray is better IMHO. With a side spray, you have to hold down the handle to keep it on spray, you will get less water pressure than you would with a faucet and built-in spray, and side sprays tend to break faster than faucets with built in spray. Also, it would be nice to have one less hole in your countertop, and one less hole to clean around. So, if you take my advice, you are left with 3 holes: the faucet (if it's a single-hole faucet), the air switch and the soap dispenser. I would put the soap dispenser on the left and the air switch on the right. Don't put the soap dispenser too far in the corner - there are people on this forum who have done that, and don't like it. I have my soap dispenser 8.5" (measuring on-center) from my single-hole faucet. Here is a link that might be useful: Thread about Air Gaps...See MoreUser
