60 Degree temps here for the next week!
Comments (6)It's very warm up here too - 50s yesterday, and already 45 at 8AM today. Someone at our church divided a bed of daffodils a couple weeks ago and donated a very large box of them to our church landscape. I couldn't plant them last week (I was sick), but I just can't waste them. I know it's really too late to plant daffs, but it's really WARM here (the ground isn't even close to frozen). And, there's NO chance of these growing in the box (LOL), so I went ahead and planted about half of them yesterday, many of them in a sunny sheltered location, the rest in full sun. I don't know if I'll get the other half in the ground today or not, but I'll give it a shot. I hope to be pleasantly surprised in the spring with drifts of yellow. Comments (9)Claudia, I too was at the Farmer's Market Festival yesterday and had a blast. We bought a large dragonfly piece from the ironworks booth and just a few plants for fun: -green japenese maple for around our pond shade -sample of Carolina phlox, something I've not grown before -solomon's seal -spike moss, which looked like a neat groundcover for the shade I'm brand new to this forum and still very new to gardening... I've learned in increments over the past 4-5 years but I'm still a newbie. Should I cover any of my emerging perennials tonight, to be safe? We haven't put anything new in, but will the frost do damage to new stuff coming up?...See MorePotential freezing temps the next 3 nights
Comments (4)If the roses in pots are hardy, they should be fine; I usually just pull those close to the house so they can take advantage of the slightly protected environment. Ditto to the rose bushes in the ground - they should be fine if they are hardy. We just a weird little ice-y rain shower here!...See MoreDealing with upcoming freeze next week in NE
Comments (3)I went ahead and planted just about everything. I kept a few backups in pots just in case it got down into the 20s. My lowest is predicted to be 39f. So I think I'm OK. I dont think a short freeze will "kill" anything I have planted. The foliage that is out might not look so good but the plants will survive. Jay...See MoreHalyna (Central FL, 9a)
