I totally agree, Alisande! I tried to think of her as being self-conscious about the cameras, but still couldn't pull for her.

I was pulling for Annie too-felt the same way that yous did about that middle gal.

We felt the same about the middle gal, Rachel. She seemed very unpleasant and wouldn't even meet Alex's eyes when he shook her hand at the end. She was not a good competitor.

She was obviously angered, as if it was someone else's fault that she got the wrong answer. Very unprofessional & immature. But, hey, at least we got a good cocktail recipe!

Different people perceive things differently, I guess. I didn't think "the girl in the middle" (why does the tune "man in the mirror" come into my head?) looked "obviously angered." I thought she looked and acted nervous. And there was a period of time when Annie wasn't doing so well (and was in the red) and I thought she looked really p-o'd.

Alisande.....you can buy one of those small bottles of Chambord in the liquor store if you want to try the actual drink. I think it's something like $3.50 and would be enough for a two or three drinks.

Thanks, Georgysmom--that's an idea. Those little bottles always look so appealing, reminding me of the old airline travel. I have the "poor man's Chambord," raspberry schnapps, so I might try that first. Maybe if I speak a little French while serving it..... :-)

I also judge Jeopardy players, so no, you don't sound too mean-spirited to me!

There are some players who just rub me the wrong way and when they are on a winning streak, I root for them to lose.

Oh, yeah! Jeopardy Pet Peeves. The buzzer thing would be at the top of my list. When I see them rocking back and forth I always think they're going to notice it when they watch themselves on TV--and not be thrilled to discover they do this. Or maybe they really do have to pee. I would! LOL

as to that "girl in the middle" -- my dear friend Hannah always looks so sour in photos, even when we are all having a good time. Recently she was looking at some photos of one of our get togethers and she said, "But I was SMILING!" She couldn't understand why she looked so miserable!

Alisande, could I go OT a little bit? Did you or anyone notice that guy who won several times who looked just like "Where's Waldo?" I could not stop wondering if I was the only one thinking that. Only the hat and striped shirt were missing.

Alisande, glad to hear you are mixing up drinks. Seems like you used to do it at the holidays but stopped. Ditto with the awards gowns, you always started a post about the gowns, remember?

Socks, thank you for remembering some of my traditional posts! I watched the Golden Globes this year, but I think someone else started a post about the dresses. This year we were out of power during the Oscars, so I didn't get to see it.

As for the cocktails, my Lyme doctor cut me off alcohol (and bread, peanuts, and some other things), so I haven't enjoyed a fancy mixed drink--or even a plain, boring, blah drink--in a couple of years. I still enjoy making them occasionally for my family at gatherings, although I suspect they'd be just as happy with a nice wine or a good IPA.

Was the "Where's Waldo" guy in the past week? We were without power for five days, so during that time the Jeopardy contestants had to come up with their answers without any help from me. :-)

I record Jeopardy every day so that I can watch it later. Well, this morning I did not read this thread, as I didn't want it to ruin the show for me. So after I watched it, I had to come here to see what was discussed, and noted the correct day. I as really confused until l saw the light (and the year 2017)

Drives me completely nuts that Alisande is no longer drinking alcohol. For so many years, wine could not be shipped to Pennsylvania. And now that it's allowed, I can't have wine shipped to her because she can't drink! Sigh...

But it's such a nice thought, Lindsey! Just as appreciated--truly!--as the arrival of a bottle.
