Wanna make mud pies?
Comments (22)Thanks, guys. It's coming along nicely and it's been a pleasant reminder to myself that I AM capable of complicated projects. The helpmeet is now working on the posts that will support the railing for the open stairwell. He has them cut, planed, champhered, and was doing the mortising last night. They will be my next task; some filling, pickling, and clear coating. Michelle, the lamp has been kicking around the family home since I was a kid. It came from an auction and I think my brother got it as a toss in when he purchased several vintage vacuum cleaners! It is missing 4 curved pcs. of glass and 1 or 2 more on the edge (you can see it in the first shot). I've been told it will require someone with a kiln and the ability to "slump" glass to recreate the arc of piece. One shop tried but failed and she sold me a pc. of glass that is a pretty good match for it. I'm next going to try a very nice, local lamp repair place where they also sell antique and vintage pieces. I'm a little nervous about the cost, but you never know until you ask, right? The shade is supposed to hang from chains with the curved part down. I think it would look smashing with the bulb(s) on a reostat....See MoreStooxie - Wanna Make A Video??
Comments (34)>It was not my intent to start another BS vs CC flame war - sorry about that. No worries Michelle, Trevor did a splendid job of that. >I very much look forward to Michelle coming to the store so someone INDEPENDENT can come back and report. You are a good salesman Trevor, she will be fed your bias. "Go clean that 5 year old (or older?) BS that I purposely neglect (in comparison to the CC) to illustrate how perfect the CC is. Independent are the Capital owners that have posted on the net that clean up isn't as easy as they have hoped for. >Again and as always we are spiting hairs here, Then why bring it up, the language you used was certain to fan a war. >until people like Stooxi actually experience a CC he will always be biased, my so called bias is based on experience, and in a short period of time my so called bias will no longer be called into questions, If one sells both ranges it becomes an opinion and not bias..... As far as I can tell, Stooxie never claimed the BS was easier to clean(in this thread anyway), it was Trevor. Oh Trevor, you only sell ONE of these brands of stoves and make a living doing so, therefore you probably are MORE biased than most. (not to mention a bad breakup with BS) >Remember this, everyone. When Trevor was selling Bluestars he'd talk all day long about how easy it was to clean. Now look! Yet another stunning turnaround. AMEN to that!!!! >I feel some what like a politician running for election having to defend everything I said years ago with documents and interviews been dug up by the press, ....lol You almost are like a politician on this forum. You have a large following, and influence a lot of people. Oh ya, and a great salesman. When I first saw a CC in real life my *VERY* first impression was "why the heck did they ruin the cooktop with a piece of stainless" (second was the oven looked small) I don't even like cleaning the stainless backsplash on my BS, so I couldn't even begin to think of how hard it would be to keep the stainless looking good. Option B would be to not be neurotic about the stainless and let it patina, but that doesn't really look as good as cast iron patina....See MoreMy fiance doesn't like my son, wanna go, but we have 2 together
Comments (8)You are in a difficult situation indeed. I understand what you are going through. My husband and I have a son together. He also has a daughter from a previous marriage and I have a son from a previous marriage. The situation you describe sounds like mine in that my husband shows his biological son an enormous amount of love and my other son nothing. There is basically no interaction at this point between the two. He use to discipline my son, but I felt it was done unfairly so that has stopped. Now we are at the point where he nit picks about every little thing my son does, but not to him...to me. It is sooo annoying. It has weakened our relationship as husband and wife, but at least my son is not constantly hearing the complaints. I must say though that my husband's nit picking has made me more critical of my sons behavior. I feel like I am riding him harder over insignificant stuff so I don't have to listen to my husbands complaints...I keep telling myself I need to stop this. My husband, for the most part, is good to me and our son. My other son is 12 and very into school, friends, and basketball. I try to do extra stuff for him when I can to make up for the fact that he doesn't have a dad and his step-dad wants nothing to do with him. My dad (his grandpa) is also a wonderful role model and strong male figure in his life. He spends a lot of time with him. Is it possible for you to find your other son another strong male role model? Like a grandfather, a friend, or join a big brother big sister group? Maybe that would help him and allow you to stay with your husband. You also must consider your other children too. What effect will it have on them if you take them away from their father?...See MoreKIA - wanna peek in my drawers while I cook dinner?
Comments (26)a2g: under the soup recipe I linked the post from mntrdredux where powerbread was discussed, but here's the direct link to the recipe I used. Usually I take the time to make it over 3 days, it has much more depth that way. But it's good to know that in a pinch you can just throw it all together all at once and still have a decent and tasty loaf of bread: power bread The muffins are nothing special, but they are quite yummy and it gets my no-I-don't-eat-vegetables toddler to get a bit of zucchini past his lips. Here's my mom's recipe for chocolate zucchini cake, I just put it into muffin tins and baked them 'til they seemed done (15-20 mins?). I omit the orange rind and do a mix of whole wheat and white flour. Chocolate Zucchini Cake 2 1/2 cups flour 1/2 cup cocoa 2 1/2 tsp baking powder 1 1/2 tsp baking soda 1 tsp salt 1 tsp cinnamon 3/4 cup oil 2 cups sugar 3 eggs 2 tsp vanilla 2 tsp orange rind 2 cups grated zucchini 1/2 cup milk 1 cup walnuts/raisins (optional) Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cinnamon and set aside. Mix oil and sugar until smooth. Add eggs one at a time. With a spoon stir in vanilla, orange rind and zucchini. Alternately add dry ingredients with wet to creamed mixture. Add nuts, pour into 10" bundt pan. Bake at 350 F for 1 hour Tami-the pulls are Amerock Blackrock, details of my kitchen can be found here...See Moredauglos
