What kind of bean dip do you make at home?
Comments (27)Hi Joel. I've been wondering why we haven't heard from you. I hope your wife's injury is not too bad and that she has a full recovery. My last batch of dip was the best yet. The beans were German Red bush limas and I used almond butter in place of tahini but I also added some fresh sesame seed. The German Red lima is a very tasty and productive bean that I have grown for two years and I plan to grow it, along with my BJBBs for the rest of my gardening years. My main problem with it is I'm an old man (85) and it is really tough for me to pick bush beans. This past season I just let most of them dry on the stalks and then pulled them up, took them under a shade tree, sat on a stool and removed them from the vines. The downside to that method is you lose a a lot of immature pods. I've had another plesant surprise. I planted three Doc Martin's limas in June and the vines really loved this Texas heat. They grew like crazy and bloomed profusely but formed no pods until the high temperatures dropped down to the eighties. So far we cooked a large pot full and I have two quarts of dry seed. We had our first lite freeze three days ago with a heavy frost that burnt the new growth. There are still lots of almost mature pods that I can dry and harvest ( NOT BAD FOR ONLY THREE PLANTS IS IT?) I'm going to plant a few early next spring to see if they will set some pods before the weather gets too hot and see if they will continue to grow thru the summer and produce another fall crop. Comments (8)You got aphids all over your plant the white is the shedded skin. Get rid of them. First try soap and warm water spray it down good and the underside of the leaves. Make sure to rinse off after applying with just plain water. Usually early morning or late evening treat. The soap mix when the sun is out will do damage if left on the plant....See MoreHow to go about setting up a Nacho/Taco Bar for 20-25 people?
Comments (15)I did a taco bar for my daughter's graduation party - it went over well and most of the food could be prepped in advance. Here's a couple of recipes for meat fillings for you - both can be done in advance. Sprinkle with cumin and brown sugar. Add beer, tequila, lime juice. Add enough water to cover meat. Add one boullion cube for each cup of water. Or use chicken broth to cover meat. Simmer, covered, for 2 hours. Remove lid and increase heat to completely reduce liquid. Remove meat fron the pot and fry up in a large skillet. Comments (32)Your house isn't ugly. The first word that comes to mind is dramatic. If you truly want a change from the "box", you need to change shapes rather than just materials. On the downstairs left rear side, you might want to wrap and enlarge that post so the upstairs doesn't appear to be a "box" in danger of falling. You could also wrap that front shed roof around that left side to minimize the "box" look. You could remove and totally change the front porch roof creating a forward facing two story gable that extends forward more. You already have a sloped roof on the right side, just continue that slope to the center of the front entry space and then use the same slope to connect with the roof on the left. You could do something like this: http://kapemvun.info/5-roses-5-solutions/...See Moreseason55
