Ammonia in my tap water
Comments (8)That's another reason to miss the well water we had in Wisconsin. I have noticed chemical smells and taste in our city water which is annoying since I drink a lot of water. It is a lot worse in the summer when the water seems to flow more like syrup from the tap. Some if the water lines are quite old here and I find it disconcerting to find what the water department calls scale in the ice cubes. They say it is harmless but it is ugly. It gets released from the pipes when the flow is disturbed for one reason or another. The first time I saw it I was quite upset and reported it to the water dept. They called back later to thank me because it let them catch a trucking company illegally tapping city water to flush their tankers. Unintended consequences, I just wanted a good cup of coffee. Comments (7)Thanks SR, I'll look that up. I'm pretty disgusted by the labeling, (or lack of labeling), that some of the nurseries in this area practice. I guess if I purchased from specialty retailers I'd have more confidence. But, I find it hard to pass up some of these little gems even if they'll have to live with no name... Comments (5)I'm just curious, what is the purpose of a boiling water tap? Isn't it just as quick/easy to put a kettle on or a cup in the microwave? Would use a lot less energy as well, I would think? I currently have a separate faucet for my filtered water at my only sink. I really have grown to dislike it as a look and as yet another thing that needs to be cleaned. This time around I am getting a filter that can be used with the main tap. Just something to consider....See MoreJosh
