Starting from dirt- literally! A basement bath DIY Adventure pt2
Comments (178)Not really bathroom related, but yet another tale for those who love stories about MrG - we are in the process of finishing off the rest of the useable basement (all of it minus the utility) and MrG has reared his ugly head yet again - remember wayyyyy back at the beginning of this adventure when I talked about the wavy concrete floor - OMG. So the rest of the basement is going to be loads of fun. It's out of level over an inch in quick checks - problem being it's too high in those spots - compared to where we will meet at the doorway (now beautifully tiled) to the laundry room. No, I will not let Mr.Hunzi break out and replace the concrete - we all know how that turned out last time, the end result may have been lovely, but the 10yr wait and the 3yr process is just too much for a second round of that sort of fun. ;-) And the future flooring is lovely, not inexpensive heart pine - unless I have to find an alternative to accommodate the Ghost of MrG. For lottery ticket and enduring and nancy who kept me company through the whole saga of bathroom and dirt before - come over and offer your wisdom at the home decorating forum - which is where I thought might fit best for the Studio Pink Babe Cave Adventure!...See Morelet's not be practical - your real dream house
Comments (53)Revisiting this old thread, I find I am still dreaming of a house that probably does not exist, beautifully detailed but not very large. The features I like are found only in houses 4000 square feet and up. I don't want one anything near that size. I'd like a walk-in laundry room on the main floor, big enough for air drying (many of my clothes I don't put in the dryer). I want a walk-in pantry Bilbo would aspire to. Books are important to me so I want a built-in library complete with fireplace in place of a living room or family room. I want a house that feels cozy, full of niches and window seats and built-ins and stone or tile floors and casement windows, not an open floor plan. An eat-in kitchen big enough for parties. A couple of small bedrooms and bathrooms would finish it all off. No one builds houses like this, and for good economic reasons. Alas....See MoreLittle things that bug you, that really shouldn't?
Comments (125)Here's a little thing that bugs me. I see the same posters on the Freecycle groups, only asking for things, never offering any items to give away. The only posts they make, are for wanting items. I hate the greed of it all. Oh, and the amount of cats and kittens being given away on Kijiji. The "Free" section is filled with that. Between those posts and people advertising that they'll pick up your scrap metal immediately, there's very little else there. The excuses are pathetic for giving away the cats.....new baby, and no time for the cat. Bought a house, no room. Huh??? A cat doesn't need babysitting or taken for walks, or played with in the back yard. What do you mean you have no time for it? This just burns me. Pets are not disposable items that you throw away when bored. This post was edited by jasdip on Mon, Oct 6, 14 at 9:11...See MoreMancave color
Comments (12)Luckily and thankfully my husband leaves all the decorating to me. He really doesn't care because he trusts my decorating and judgment. I am pretty good when it comes to furniture and accessories etc. but I've had a hard lessons in paint and that's why it scares me. I pick up paint and think I love it and then it goes on the walls and I don't love it so much. This basement will be used for a theater room where in we will have a very large projection screen TV, there will be a bar, a pool table and a game table. The pool and game table all have lights above them as well as the bar of course. I do like when basements are kind of dark to be honest. I don't even mind if they don't have windows!...See MoreHunzi
