Comments (16)Electrolux Induction E31 error fixed!! We had this same error and fixed it for less than $300 with the help of some excellent YouTube videos and a repair service purchased on Ebay. Comments (15)I bought an Electrolux EW30IF60ISA free standing induction range 2.5 years ago. I loved it when it was working. The cooktop recently failed (there was a loud bang as I lifted my tea kettle off the hob, and then the range displayed error code 31). I don't know what conclusion you can draw about the reliability of the brand from that, but I do think that the industry shift to 1 year warranties is a bad sign. Maybe you could glean something from comparing how much manufacturers charge for extended warranties? Anyway, the error code indicates that I need to replace the left side generator board, which costs $450. Yale Appliance (where I bought the range) charged me $99 for a service technician to come to my house and read the error code, which I had told them over the phone to begin with. When the board came in, the technician came back to my house, took off the back of the range, and pointed out that there was a scorch mark on the right side board, so I'd need to replace both. Since this was adding up to more than $1000 with labor, I decided not to do it. I have since done a little poking around, and took the back off the range myself to have a closer look. It turns out that the left side generator board is actually on the right side, but that the board with the scorch mark is actually the filter board (whatever that is), which sits below the generator board. I'm going to try replacing that myself, since at this point I don't trust the service from Yale. Anyway, I'm not too happy with Electrolux right now. I think they ought to have longer warranties on these appliances, and design and build them so that they won't need to be repaired. But I suspect that all the other manufacturers have similar quality issues, so I don't know what advice to give....See MoreRepair my Electrolux or get it replaced ?
Comments (8)I'd get the new one, too. The problem with the electronics is that the failure of one board can cascade to others. Replacing one board may result in its failure because of problems with the other boards, as seems to have happened in your case. There have been other reports of failure of a new board when just one is replaced n a Frigidaire/Elux product. The company probably mentioned the $2k costs because they now think they need to replace all the boards. IIRC, the Frigidiare freestanding model has a smaller oven, knob controls on the backsplash (versus the touchpad on your Elux), no burner bridging arrangement, a slightly different burner array, no warming drawer and (IIRC) fewer heat steps at the low end, . If you like knobs for the burners, I'd be more inclined to the Kenmore Elite 95073. It is an upgraded version of the Frigidiare-branded one. It has a warming drawer and a potentially better burner array (the left side burners are an 8" and 7" rather than a 7"' and 6"). Otherwise, a replacement Elux might be what to shoot for. Let us know how it works out....See MoreThinking of replacing broken Electrolux induction range with electric
Comments (12)Hi HVtech - first off thank you! If that part works maybe we really could actually consider fixing the Electrolux range rather than scrapping it - this is not something I even considered possible. As I mentioned, I really like this range and it is in great condition except for the fact that none of the hobs work! All the parts on that site you referenced are for a Frigidare though - would they work on an Electrolux and how can I confirm that?? The model number of the part on the invoice from our Electrolux service tech was 318329602, which we looked up on the internet and confirmed was only sold for $800 or higher. Also, the tech called Electrolux while he was at my home and they said that they did not recommend that we only replace one part of the induction assembly - he said that this is because replacing one part could cause failure in another. Does that even make sense? Also, I did not see any subcomponents to the induction assembly listed in the website you sent - are they available elsewhere? Assuming we can replace subcomponent and that would fix the range, would a somewhat handy person be able to open up a range and identify the bad part of the assembly? Thanks so much for your help. We would love to keep this range if we can. Jama...See Moreboba1
