got the new one last night. put it together this morning. (71 min 38 sec from first cracking box open to cleaning up the trash) starting to put the oil on to season the iron. tahnks for the tips. burners flame to full power and i know the insides of my grill. the last one, i couldn't get the propane tank to hang on the guage, the top hooks were pointing down instead of up. found a few other discrepencies from the old one to this new one. suggest anyone that buys a pre assembled grill, any grill, go over it step by step in the instruction manual to make sure it is put together 100% correct. mine were all minor flaws, but someone might get one with a hose but on wrong or whatever. found out sam's pays the stock boys 25 dollars to put some together. faster they do it the more it is worth to them. guy i talked to says he has got it down to 35-40 minutes per grill. that is awfully fast to put your trust in that he didn't miss anything. I have been running a Viessmann Vitirod oil boiler for 10 years now. At first the tech guy couldn't figure out why the boiler kept going out on flame fail. Turned out the burner motor was the brand new (at the time) Beckett NX burner which ran at a much higher pump pressure than the standard Beckett burner. Once this was figured out, the boiler has been running perfect for the last 10 years. The Viessmann is a triple pass, cold start boiler. Saved a ton on fuel costs.

I presume you have a hot water circulation system as opposed to forced air? If its a water setup then each and every radiator must be bled from time to time - there should be a little valve on each one to do that and its a $0 dollar job. If this guy charged you $500 you are being royally ripped off as he should have checked that as part of the original "installation". Even at $50 an hour thats 10 hrs and it should take a minute for each radiator....if your radiators are old the valve handles might have gone AWOL and you will need the appropriate little spanner or whatever... There has to be some sort of warranty on the new equipment and installation.......you should get your $500 back and threaten to complain to the Better Business Bureau (did you check the installer out before hiring I wonder?) As a comparison BTW I have the temp at 55 when out or at night and 68 when at home......maybe I am used to wearing sweaters as I come from the UK....

Good point baymee, I'll have to contemplate that one but also check to see if the draft is in fact adjusted correctly. Mark, thanx for that chart, thats really helpfull, I'm printing that as we speak. You work in a northern climate too as I recall. You probably see the same thing all the time too, people blocking off their combustion air vents because of the cold air coming in and the fear of freezing pipes. Thats why I think the "fan in a can" is such a good idea. We seemed to have comandeered this "Beckett burner won't stay running" post, but I believe we've all told him all he has to know to make a decision on what to do.
