New paint color for recovered tub area pics included
Comments (4)Thanks! That is an excellent suggestion. I held up River Reed C11-2 Olympic from Lowes and it was stunning. It also was a beautiful color with the paint in my master bedroom which is Olympic Crocodile Tears C12-3. Unfortunately I also need to get something to go with my dolphin, turtle and fish shower. It wasn't quite as stunning with that. I fiddled around with the greys in that area and like Sherman Williams Silver Strand 7057 but I don't know if I want to paint the little shower room a different color than the master bath. And I'm not sure I want to do a straight grey in the master bath as it is very large with a huge mirror so it would become alot of grey to be surrounded by. I've got the full Sherman Williams and Benjamin Moore color fan decks here at home so if you have a color in mind that you think would work well let me know. Thanks again! Comments (15)the only time i think a trend might be an issue is if you buy something because it's 'trendy' and you don't really know what you do and don't like... i once bought a pair of mauve wing chairs-not because i liked pink-but because the loveseat i bought on a really great sale had the 'trendy' colors in it of mauve and blue flowers on ivory backround- a very pretty fabric. so, i had navy drapes made and needed 2 wing chairs and the friend i was with suggested a certain fabric---it all looked really nice together. BUT, ordinarily, i WOULD NEVER HAVE BOUGHT PINK CHAIRS!! i learned alot from that experience--about sales and trends!!! there are always 'trends'... and, it's ok to buy 'trendy'- but you should be sure you really like something if it's furniture or tile, etc...paint trends are easier to change!! i put a marble and glass mosaic in our master bath which i really like... yes, someday you might not see as much of it as you currently do, but bottom line is -i like it!! if you love blue, go for it! if you love glass tile, go for it! but, if you're not sure of your taste or if it's important to you to follow the latest color trend, go neutral/white with the tile/granite so that in 3 years you can paint your bathroom coral, pale yellow,or peach or whatever might be most stylish then!...See MoreReplacing one trend with another trend.
Comments (8)I was reminded by this thread of this Meryl Streep classic from The Devil Wears Prada: "This... 'stuff'? Oh... ok. I see, you think this has nothing to do with you. You go to your closet and you select out, oh I don't know, that lumpy blue sweater, for instance, because you're trying to tell the world that you take yourself too seriously to care about what you put on your back. But what you don't know is that that sweater is not just blue, it's not turquoise, it's not lapis, it's actually cerulean. You're also blindly unaware of the fact that in 2002, Oscar de la Renta did a collection of cerulean gowns. And then I think it was Yves St Laurent, wasn't it, who showed cerulean military jackets? And then cerulean quickly showed up in the collections of eight different designers. Then it filtered down through the department stores and then trickled on down into some tragic "casual corner" where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin. However, that blue represents millions of dollars and countless jobs and so it's sort of comical how you think that you've made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry when, in fact, you're wearing the sweater that was selected for you by the people in this room. From a pile of 'stuff.'"...See MoreNew and need help with art placement (pics included)
Comments (10)door1, I was also thinking about maybe doing a glass shelf to hold something. I will look into that. htnspz, I think my DH agrees with you in regards to the wall cabinet. I do love the mirror and vanity both are new so changing that is not possible (may be I should have posted here before selecting not really good with this stuff). I can surely look into changing the bulbs in the light fixture. I also agree about the paint color in the bathroom but don't have time to do this before holidays. Thanks again for all the feedback....See MoreMongoCT
