PICS-Yellowing Maple Cabinets-Need help w/ counters
Comments (13)Thank you so much for all the replies and inspirational pictures. I have included links to show the other side of the kitchen. It gives a little more perspective on my backsplash as well as the other accent color I have in my kitchen. My thoughts now after reading the suggestions are Take down the wallpaper border-dated I know, but then what paint-change to sage green, paint rest of kitchen in terra cotta color or ?? The kitchen currently is painted plantation beige (on the same paint strip as tobacco road by duron. My dining room which joins my kitchen has an accent wall in the same terra cotta color (other side of the refrigerator/ stove wall if that makes sense)so I would like to keep that color in my kitchen if possible. I am still torn between the light and dark counter tops.I love the look of marble but it is too delicate for my family. I will look at the colonial cream and ivory suggested-I do worry about staining with the light granites but I like the clean crisp look of a light counter. I had researched soapstone-I think there is one called Julia that has a green undertone? I love soapstone and was wondering how that would look in my kitchen. I also looked at Tan Brown granite which I thought might be a nice contrast with my cabinets and flooring. Since I have to keep my current back splash for now, would the 4 inch counter splash that I will have to use look OK? Thanks again for the input. Many things I would like to change but have to work pretty much with what I have!! PS. Still working on the wire mess behind the little flat screen TV! Sorry for the links, I am having trouble imbedding my pictures tonight. http://i1065.photobucket.com/albums/u381/ladybug1100/Kitchen1.jpg http://i1065.photobucket.com/albums/u381/ladybug1100/Kitchen.jpg...See MoreHelp w/ kitchen (pics)
Comments (12)My first instinct is to agree with others that warm is calling out to this beautiful kitchen. BUT... What are the color of the cabinets? This below is not your granite but notice the warm beige color on the walls with the dark cabinets. If you have dark cabs this could work but if your cabs are light you might need a dark chocolate to balance it all out. Juparana-Florence-Granite Juparana-Florence-Granite Red Dragon granite paint colors that come to mind with similar granites. Chilled Chardonay Benjamin Moore CottonWood by Ralph Lauren paints Then I see that you have gray and blue swatches on the wall so perhaps you want to cool it down. Match the stone tile backsplash. Here are some great neutral cools that could work too. Comments (4)Laundry room door (open) cannot be moved (ideal) since it has 3 brick steps down and w/d beside it. I have checked with contractor on this scenario. Window to be removed since view is not great but it is nice when children out back playing kick ball in back. 3 foot outside door will open onto wall that laundry room door is located on leaving 3 feet 2" of working space. If use cabinet/pantry on this wall do not think it needs to be deep so people entering from parking space outside will not feel cramped. Suggestions here please. Would you have shelf above laundry room door is cabinet/pantry located opposite door to join original kitchen cabinet area with extended area? Thanks...See MoreWhat color granite with oak??pic
Comments (22)My daughter just put Venetian Gold granite tops on her 60s medium stained oak cabinets and it looks very nice. We agonized over the choice. But decided that the Venetian Gold is eye-catching enough to draw attention away from the oak grain, but still works with the grain. She still has white appliances, but will do stainless down the road. I can see how the stainless would work with the Venetian Gold. She's accented with Oil Rubbed Bronze, and also has some brushed stainless accents. Surprisingly, both look good with the granite....See Morecaminnc
