Need help dressing for semi-formal event
Comments (11)A dressy (pants) silk suit would be lovely (I rarely wear skirts or dresses), especially if you have a sparkly or shimmering blouse underneath. I have a couple of silk suits just for that purpose. I've gotten two very nice silk suits recently at the Dress Barn, so don't think you'll have to spend huge amounts of money to get something that looks good. I'll wear one to my daughter's rehearsal dinner (I'll probably wear a dress to the wedding). I wear no more than about 1" heels. Since I don't wear heels often, my feet don't adjust well to them, so the lower the better. No sense toppling over and calling attention to myself!! And a nice handbag - small and pretty. You'll be good for years to come. Enjoy...See MoreFormal vs Informal Dresses
Comments (5)It's your wedding. Wear whatever is your dream! Just make sure the style of the bridesmaids matches the style of your dress. I found a beautiful dress that was kind of "loose/dreamy/running through the wildflowers" feeling but had already bought my bridesmaid dresses (long black cocktail type dresses) and it didn't match them at all. Found another dress more clean lined that I loved and made a much better match....See MoreFormal dresses in Atlanta?

Comments (22)This is a useful dress. They're showing it rather 'dressed down' except for the strap shoes. IMO it needs some help to qualify as 'cocktail attire'. (Open shoes for sure. A tiny, dressy purse. Crystal or diamond jewelty for sparkle. Possibly a little cocktail hat or other bit of flash in your hair?) The dress is nicely low key for an *office* party. You probably don't want to be 'memorable'! LOL The invitation is encouraging dark suits and dresses -- and discouraging jeans and bland work attire. Will you please report back about the party? Tell us what everyone else was wearing. (This could be interesting!)...See MoreOutsidePlaying
