What should I do with these plants?

Hello everyone, today I finally took my plants outside on a sunny spot to see why they're look so miserable... well, that's why... first have a root rotten, but plant seems like recovering itself. I don't know what to do now, plant it in a perlite and keep it warm or dry it first? And if I'll dry it, will it kill those new roots that plant developed?

My next couple of victims are minies, all turned yellow. My best guess would be that I need to feed them, but I don't think they are actively growing right now.

And some others that have spider mites and aphids, I'll spray them with something as soon as my parrots will go back in a house.

If this spring will not hurry up, I don't know how many plants will survive me. I keep them all indoor under light, temps is mid 70, but I can't say that they are growing. They just sit there all miserable and I'm tossing two to three yearlings a week. My "grow" room looks more like a torture chamber, lol. Bald plumerias and half-bald yellowing adeniums, lol.

Oh, no, Elena. Please get some Neem Oil and use it at 1/2 strength to get that mite issue in check. Spray everything ... the plants, the pots, and the area where they were. Clean the area first w/soap & water, then spray.

The yellowing could be caused by mites, cold, or soggy soil. I have a couple that seem to dislike our 70º-ish overnight temps. What substrate are you using? Can you add 50% perlite to aerate it?

If they were my plants, I'd pull them all out of their containers to inspect their roots. Cut off any rot or it will spread (including on that seedling you're holding ... it'll grow new roots), sprinkle with cinnamon, allow to dry a few days before repotting. Do not water for a full 1-2 weeks. They should start to bounce back. When you water, do so sparingly and only if actively growing ... Use your finger to make sure the soil is bone dry 2" or more down. At 70º F, they will prefer to be on the dry side.

Remember the rule to treat as tropicals during the summer and as cactus during the winter. I'm not sure how the weather is in your specific region but, to give you an example, I only water 1x per week in my climate of 72º overnight lows / 87º daytime highs. When we get back up to the 80s & 90s, I'll water 2x per week.

If your plants are dormant, there is no need to feed them. Dropped leaves is a normal sign of dormancy. In that case, they will need water only very sparingly, if at all, because they're sleeping.

I don't use lights, but the purpose is to mimic ideal growing conditions (spring / summer). The lamps should be on about 12 hrs / off 12 hrs to mimic day & night. You can keep them in your warmest room at night on a heat mat. Adeniums need ~80º F temps to keep growing. This is especially so for seedlings, which lack the reserves to go dormant. Keep those babies warm.

I would say it's a philodendron, one of the 'pink lady' varieties. It does look kind of like a peace lily (spath), but those don't have aerial roots, which a see a couple of, and also what appear to be stems. First thing is to hydrate - it's severely wilted. Take the whole thing, pot and all (remove the drainage saucer if you can), and dunk it into the sink or tub filled with hot water. Hot water works very well to quickly revive over-dry plants. And I mean really hot, as hot as your hands can stand. Let it soak for a couple of hours, then let it drain for a couple more. You can cut off the dead brown parts now, if you want - you can tell the dead parts, they'll be crispy. I wouldn't do anything else to it until it has recovered from the shock of being in a desert for who knows how long. It should start to stand back up, at least many of the leaves should, though you'll probably have a number of leaves that will turn yellow and ugly. You can cut these off, they will eventually become crispy anyway. When you cut them, cut the leaf stem from the main stem flush with the main stem. At this point, you can go ahead and repot according to the number of good suggestions to be found on this forum, or ask again for more help with repotting

greenchic, How much should I cut off the top? 1, 2, or 3 feet? Maybe even more? Because it's doing so well, I don't want to shock the plant. I got the healthy corn plants from my Mom. She has ultra green thumbs and propagates them here/there and she leaves them outside to get full and bushy (doesn't get below 35 deg). When I got these corn plants (3 plants total), they were about 6'-7' tall and a PITA to get home without damaging too many of the leaves. It's taken them about a little over a year to get to 9' tall. I was thinking of giving these back to her and swap them for some of her other healthy plants, but it's such a big hassle to move them now that they're so big. So, my delimna.... what to do with them now. How much should I cut off? If I try rooting them in water, do I put the cuttings in bright indirect light or in the same spot as where the plant is currently? thanks, Lali

For your specific region and in full sun, 50% cactus soil / 50% perlite will work well. Adeniums are sun-loving trees. If you plant them in-ground, they will grow 6' tall. If not under full sun, slowly move it to full sun over a one week period. Also, adeniums love to have a great meal once a week ... Fertilize weekly at 1/4 strength with something like 14-14-14. When you trim, always do so at an angle. Cut just above two (upper and lower) nodes, where leaves have fallen off. Cutting will activate the nodes for branching. Look for nodes that are tightly stacked for strategic multiple branching from one cut. Here's a diagram drawn by Martin (Denmark) which helped me understand the concept of pruning better than any book: I hope you get a minimum of 4 branches on your first cut! Cuttings can also be rooted, are the age of the original plant, and will bloom accordingly. You can cut the branch cutting into two or three pieces, keeping the correct orientation, and plant to root them. Dust a little rooting hormone on the ends of the cuttings and place in relatively dry substrate, misting occasionally. Keep out of direct sunlight. When you see new growth (about 1.5 months) you can check for roots and repot, acclimating to full sun, then begin treating the cutting as mature plants (which they are). cutting do not develop a caudex but, in time, can develop a significantly large root system.
