If you had just one outfit....
Comments (27)Count me in on the casual team. Capris and t-shirts at home. If I'm going somewhere a button down blouse with the capris. And sandals. I wear sandals deep into the fall and winter. In the winter sweats or jeans and a tshirt. I think I own one long sleeved shirt, maybe 2. And skechers on my feet. Raven you got me onto the skechers gowalks. Love them! And Deeby, lol, you are absolutely right about Joan. She would have had a hay day with us. Sad that she is gone, she was a great entertainer....See MoreGTKY - sartorial edition
Comments (30)What is the oldest piece of clothing in your usual rotation? A brown wool crepe Eileen Fisher dress I bought at a JJill outlet in N Conway NH 17 years ago. It's a great, classic dress and still in excellent condition and I love it. What article of clothing do you hold onto but not wear? *My wedding dress What was your favorite childhood outfit? I had a yellow dress that my grandfather bought me just a few weeks before he died when I was not quit 6. I loved that dress! The least favorite childhood outfit? Wool leggings that went with wool dress coats - a big pain to get on and always too hot (we lived in Kansas City, not Anchorage!) What was/is your favorite grown up article of clothing? I love my Hermes handbags - great classic design, great quality, can make a cheap outfit look pretty darned good! What article of clothing was 'the one that got away', the one you didn't purchase and regretted later? A pair of beautiful opal earrings I saw in Petoskey MI and could not afford. The color was gorgeous - lots of blue and fire. What was the first article of clothing you bought for yourself with your own money? A round polished calfskin black handbag at Harzfeld's in Kansas City when I was about 14. It was adorable - opened with a flap that came down. Saved my babysitting money for it and thought I was tres chic!e What was your biggest mistake clothing or shoe purchase? A pair of really gorgeous Valentino bow pumps. Outrageously expensive - thought they were comfortable at Saks - can't wear them as they hurt like the devil. What item do you miss the most (maybe it wore out or doesn't fit or is woefully out of style)? There are so many! Beautiful wool or linen daytime dresses. Beautiful lingerie that was not slutty. Spring coats. Dark cottons for fall. Spectator pumps with a linen dress. I could go on.... Do you wear red for Valentine's Day or green for St. Patrick's? Any other holidays that you wear something specifically holiday related? Sometimes, I wear a pinkish red sweater on Valentine's Day. NEVER green on St Patrick's - I'm English and might just wear orange if I'm feeling cheeky! What was your favorite pair of shoes? (They don't have to be practical or worn often, just the ones that bring a smile to your face when you think about them.) I love my Roger Vivier black patent "Pilgrim" pumps and the dark brown suede "Pilgrim" flats. Chic and SO comfortable. Worth every penny. Did you/do you work in a job that requires a uniform? Did you wear a uniform for school? * Never had a job that required a uniform, but when I was working in retailing in the 1960's there was a strict dress code - no pants, only black, navy, gray or very dark brown clothing allowed, heels and hose required. We were not to "compete" with the merchandise....See MoreSpeaking of Wardrobes...what is
Comments (22)Summer? I live in white pants - prefer mid-calf length these days. They must have elastic in the waist as that is where I carry my weight. If not, there is room for me and a friend in the rear! I have bought several pair from JJill this summer - they must be washable as dry cleaning while on the Vineyard is very problematic. Tops? I wear some bateau neck, 3/4 sleeve T's I buy at Talbots, but my favorites, especially if it's hot and humid (at home!) are tops by Robert Roller Rabbit. No, that is NOT a joke - crazy name but I love her tops! They are very lightweight cotton but not see-through (no layering with cami's for this gal). They come in interesting prints and colors. I have both a short length she usd to make and the longer tunic. I can also wear the tunic as a bathing suit cover-up. They wash like a dream and require no ironing. Just bought 3 more today - haven't bought any in a couple of years. Summer dresses are a problem for me. In fact, dresses are as most are for teenage girls who weight about 100 pounds dripping wet. I found an Eileen Fisher dress on the Garnet Hill website a year ago and I now own it in both back and dark navy. Very versatile and packs well. I through a large colorful print shawl over them to dress them up a bit and also for warmth if the AC in a restaurant is too cold. I have several of these and also wear them in the winter over a cashmere turtleneck when I go out casually at night. They cost the sun and the moon but they have proven to be worth every single penny and will last forever. I prefer simple clothes. In the winter, I only wear neutrals. In the summer with a tan, I enjoy tops in bright colored prints. Shoes? In the summer, it's either my Belgian loafers, Jack Rodger sandals or my Tom's espadrilles. I did put on some low heels for dinner at the yacht club a couple of weeks ago. I keep my shoes forever - not hard on shoes....See MoreJust a friendly reminder
Comments (46)l pinkmountain. in 1981, my natural hair color was auburn, but I dyed it medium ash brown to get rid of the red tones and the gray. By the time I was 50, my natural color was ash blond, and so I stopped dying it. This is one of my favorite pink flowers: It is also one that I've had the longest, and I kept putting it in larger pots, allowing it to grow into a very large plant. The flowers are iridescent and almost gaudy because their colors are so intense....See Morelittlebug zone 5 Missouri
