Concern with master bedroom closet size - Please help
Comments (10)I would be hesitant to give up room in my bath area. If you shrink it to 7 x 5 you'll be limited in the size tub/shower you can use and I'd think you'd want the largest you could put in there since this is the MBR. As the other poster mentioned, moving all the plumbing will quickly add up, and moving a toilet is usually the last thing you want to do. Whether you have a slab or crawlspace under your home will be the determining factor. I've included a drawing of how I'd probably do the area. Our last home was similar to yours and limited in closet area, so DH used the spare bedroom and hall bath as his dressing area. I would take the small closet space in your BR and add it to the hall bath closet.......then one of you can use it as your personal closet. If you don't need a double sink, the other option would be to reverse the closet/sink layout I've drawn That would then give you more closet space in the BR but you'd have only one sink. The double sink wall shouldn't need to be there for privacy.......isn't there a door at the entrance to your BR? If you really wanted to get carried away with a remodel........and the hall bath isn't needed by others........you could absorb that bathroom into your plans and make a large bedroom/bath suite! :)...See MoreBedroom 2 questions: Min bed, brass lamp, maple
Comments (26)Fun, I love the parallel bed, and would love to have it. It is too big though (at least I think it is). Compare it to the simple platforms: 78" x 89" to 62" x 82". That is a significant difference in a small bedroom, although most of the extra width with the parallel bed is the headboard. The parallel would reduce the space between the end of the bed and the wall from 5'1" to 4'6", and I need to add at least 20" of storage in that space. I know neither simple beds are great beauties, the bed will mostly be about the linens. That said, I do like the dark steel bed with the oak headboard quite a bit. Makes me sad that the min is likely the better choice for the room....See MoreHELP! Small NYC bedroom design questions!
Comments (5)A full size bed accommodates a mattress measuring 54 inches wide by 75 inches long. Measure all of your current furniture pieces and cut out rectangles in the scale of 1 inch equals 12 inches. Then make a scale drawing and move the pieces around until you like the layout....See MoreBedroom progress and question about lighting
Comments (21)@JustMe Thanks! That's very helpful. I have had a hard time finding sconces with switches and had to cobble some together from old lights for the other bedroom. As far as centering the bed, I think we'll leave it how it is at least for now. We just had a new baby so now have the baby bed in there. It's convenient to have the extra space for it next to our bed so I'm not always walking into it. Not sure if it's obvious from pictures but the dresser isn't centered between the windows because of the radiator on the left. Not sure how the bench would be there. Right now it's just become a place for folded laundry. It's not at all comfortable....See MoreVirgil Carter Fine Art
