No one really makes a 30" induction range with two actual separate oven cavities. Samsung makes one that has technically 2 ovens, but they just accomplish this by putting a giant partition in the center of a typical 30" oven and split it into two smaller ovens. Most brands just do a typical full size 30" oven and then a warming drawer below. And yes your cast iron will work on induction.

An Induction range with one oven and a Breville countertop steam oven is a great choice if you want two ovens. You will find yourself not using the larger oven a small often. There are better ranges out there than Samsung. You should visit a showroom where they have some live demos of the induction range to see which units you prefer

If a freestanding range would work for you, Whirlpool/Kitchenaid has the freestanding dual oven induction range. Model is the KFID500ESS. Might try searching for that if Hubby is okay with induction burners that have only ten power settings. You may already have run across this model at Home Depot and Sears.

For slide-ins, the Electrolux slide-in induction range (to which Anthony provided the link) has a "baking drawer" which can heat up over 400°F so it might be considered an oven. It was discussed here at length few years back in threads about the the prior Electrolux induction slide-in model. IIRC, some folks liked the baking drawer, some hated it, and some mocked it as a toaster oven with delusions of grandeur.

Homepro's recommendation for considering a countertop oven has been suggested to others looking for dual oven capability. The Breville smartovens have gotten good reviews here and at chowhound if you want to research them. One minor point of clarification: for steam oven functions, you have to look to Cuisinart. (CSO300, I think.) There are a couple of very long threads on them at e-Gullet if you want to check out that option, too.

I'll second homepro's suggestion of trying to find a showroom with some induction models on the floor. Hands on time may tell you more than we possibly can.

And, yes, enameled cast iron (ECI) works fine on induction.

Whirlpool also sells a version of that KitchenAid KFID5000. I'm still expecting GE to offer something too. I just discovered Breville has a new product in the Smart Oven line, the SmartOven Air. It's sold exclusively at William Sonoma now, but has an even larger oven than their original model. I'm still using a 1984 Hotpoint coil slide in and the Breville Smart Oven. Holding out for a dual oven Induction range. And both oven cavities are self-cleaning. And only KitchenAid and Whirlpool offer that currently.

Thanks so much everyone. I found the kitchenaid/whirlpool one and a maytag as well. I ruled out the Samsung as I don't like the door setup. I also found one called Belling but I've never heard the brand.

The electolux sounds good assuming I could actually cook in that bottom drawer. Usually it's a tray of fries or mac and cheeseor a pan of brownies. Something I don't want to put in the main oven with a roasting chicken for example.

So from what I'm gathering the lower priced models have 10 heat settings? That sounds like a bunch to me, but as I don't do the cooking I will let him decide. So what is a good number of settings?

I like the idea of the breville if it comes down to it, but the kitchen has so little counter space I hate to have even less, hence the hope for 2 ovens in the existing space.

is there room for a wall oven someplace? Or put in just an induction cooktop and stack a regular 30" oven with a smaller one in the wall?

Belling as a well known British brand - my range back home was a Belling. I haven't heard of them being available here though, and I don't know anything about their induction appliances, sorry.

Divo, no room for squat! It's a log cabin to boot, so even moving or changing electrical outlets is a nightmare. So even if I gutted the whole kitchen, I'd keep the layout exactly as is and just upgrade cabinets and appliances.

Belling induction ranges are also on offer in Australia and NZ. (That from a a recent thread here discussing 24 inch (aka 30cm) induction ranges.) Like Askogirl, I'never seen any indication of the brand being offered here in North America, either. So, maybe one less thread to chase?

The ten heat settings for burners thing is a design aspect, not a price-related one. Heck, the $7k Miele range has only 12 steps for its burners. Most of the less expensive portable induction cookers have only ten (some have fewer.) Only ten on the entire range of Whirlpool models (including Maytag, KitchenAid and Jenn Aire), the $5k Dacor F&P models, the new $3.6k LG slide-in, and the two Samsung slide-in induction ranges. (Samsung's freestanding ones have 19 settings). Some of us here have found 10 to be too few --- we always seem to be needing something between setting 1 and 2 or between 2 and 3 for our cooking, and so have gravitated to GE, Miele cooktops, Bosch, and Frigidaire-Electrolux, etc.. Others here, presumably with different cooking interests, have been fine with 10 or 12 burner settings. .

FWIW, The Electrolux slide-in has (IIRC) 22 or so settings with extra steps at the low end where it seems to matter more. Folks with other ranges and cooktops seem happy with the more common 16 to 20 settings.

As for cooking in the Electrolux "baking drawer," I'm recalling (but not finding) threads from 4 and 5 years ago where folks cooked in casseroles and baking dishes, made muffins, etc. in it. Some of the early adopters found their baking drawers apparently got pretty hot and caused concern about the finish on hardwood floors beneath the stove. I don't recall having seen any of those complaints recently. Also, I'm seeing references that say the lower oven will heat to 450° F -- that is baking, btw, not broiling. If still interested, it would be best to take some of your cookware to a showroom to see if and how it fits.

For the Breville (or Cuisinart combi-steam), they also function as toaster ovens, so maybe that helps a little with counter space? Also, they are small enough to stash someplace off the counter when you do not need them -- assuming your small cabin has any room for storage.
