Whats Going on Here? (Pic)
Comments (9)I don't think I want to honestly count the outside ones, do multiples count? maybe I can count the groupings of iris and daylilies as 1. I know I have 200 hosta, those I keep a steady count on, and I planted 100 Tulip bulbs last year....... I am with you watergal, I also want to collect every cool variety I see:) so many so little room........ I know I need to let the duplicates go if I want to keep getting new ones though, I had 5 bosten ferns and I happily gave all but one away this spring, the money plants that I have 3 of will be harder to let 2 of those go:( and who needs 2 of each kind of spider plant? I also have several of the golden and marble queen pothos, what is wrong with me? My duplicates normally come from me taking divisions and cuttings, at first it is so I will have extras to share, but then I get to where I become really attached and don't really want them going to a new home. DH is actually very good about all of my plants, he never says a word (other then telling people that he literally lives in a jungle:) of course that could be because he doesn't notice when a new one comes in, I managed to bring in another cane plant without him noticing, wonder how long it will take him to figure out there is two in the bathroom instead of just one?? I am crazy:)...See MorePlease. let's see some of your summered plants here! Pic
Comments (73)Hey everyone. Been a while since I've posted here, but I'm loving seeing everyones plants so much that I thought I'd share some of my favorites with everyone as well. My oldest Thanksgiving cactus. It'll be 4 years in January. It doesn't look like much, but I'm thrilled with it 'cause it lost all its segments during the spring and I think it's coming back quite nicely. Opuntia santa-rita. One of my favs. Will be 2 years in April. Jade ovata 'Gollum'. Turned 2 in September. Haworthia fasciata. Really like this one. 1.5 years old. Philodendron scandens. 3.5 years old. Another Phildendron. Not sure of its exact name. Only 6 months old. Dracaena deremensis 'Yellow Stipe'. My mother can't grow these worth a bean, but mine's doing quite well I think. Will be 3 years in May. Dracaena marginata. Turned 4 in September. Ficus elastica 'Black Prince'. 2.5 years old. Hildewinteria aureispina. Will be 3 years in April. Coleus blumei. Looks quite pathetic right now but that's because I just cut it back hard. It always grows back beautifully. I'm proud of this one because Coleus plants are classified as annuals and this one is turning 3 years next month (Decemeber). Hope I didn't post too much. Thanks for sharing everyone and thanks for looking at mine....See MoreHere's new pics of foyer - Comments?
Comments (17)It's great when you start to turn a house into your home! I think the blue chairs clash with the wonderful drapes and overall look you seem to be going for. Please keep and enjoy your DR set as it's likely well made and seems beautiful, but the blue gives it that Victorian feel you seem to be uncomfortable with. Reupholstering the chairs will work wonders. If you can locate more of the toile, then consider doing the chairs in a background color and perhaps having the toile applied just to the backs. For more versatility, then just use a solid color from the toile that is slightly darker than your carpet, perhaps a tone on tone texture or damask, without the coordinating toile back. If the tufting bothers you, eliminate it. You can always add arm or wing chairs at the head of the table. As mentioned earlier, try moving the other two chairs to the table. Your drapes are the highlight and can stand alone, but if the corners just seem too empty try a feathery palm. Enjoy your beautiful home....See MoreUsing indoor/outdoor rug inside
Comments (12)We used overlapping indoor/outdoor rugs to "carpet" our basement. I'm glad we did, as we've had 3 water events since doing it. A couple of the fibers have broken (kid-related?), but they're easy to clean. Ours are made of recycled bottles, and they're reversible. One note: Indoor/outdoor rugs don't absorb moisture. Part of the point is to allow moisture to pass through, so you don't have mold or mildew problems under the rug. If you spill something, the rug won't absorb the liquid and you will have the clean the floor underneath.
