Size of coffered or box beam ceiling-help please!
Comments (6)I just took a closer look and the beams look to be about 18"x18", so they are square in cross-section. There's a bit of an optical illusion when looking up at an angle, but when looking straight up they look quite wide. My rough guess for the room would be about 20'x30', give or take a couple feet. (Geez, that sounds really big!) cynandjon, the piano does sound great. Comments (9)Thank you for your help and the pictures of these lovely ceilings and rooms. Sorry they are not the one I remembered. The kitchen was open to the family room. The two rooms were visually separated by a "detailed header" with a coffered ceiling in the family room. Maybe it was the kitchen and my mind is just playing tricks with me - again. LOL! Comments (7)I am wrestling with the same decision. My new home is a 1920's Dutch colonial with cofferred ceilings on the entire first floor. All original woodwork. While it is beautiful it really darkens the space. There is not a lot of natural light to balance it out. Being close to the beach, a white trim would be more appropriate and more to my tastes, but I have a massive amount of guilt over the thought of covering the original wood. Comments (3)Other colors I am considering using is Sherwin Williams Rain or Interesting Aqua to offset the agreeable gray, but need to remember the offset room is silver strand, so it needs to somewhat coordinate. The rain or interesting aqua will offer more blue colors rather than the magnetic gray or unusual gray that is pulling too much green, imo....See Morecpartist
