I think the night stands are too small.

Your headboard and bed look great! I think ideally the tables could be bigger, but if it's a guest room and they work for your budget, I could probably live with them myself. A lighter color may beef them up a bit. Could you try covering them with a light colored fabric (just as a visual) and kind of tuck it in so it doesn't increase the visual size too much, and see how you like them a lighter color?

OP here. Regarding the lamp situation...I have considered plug in wall sconces...it would free up my tiny tables. I have some Gray Owl in my stash so I can paint a sample. Thanks.

If you are going to paint think about choosing a shade darker under the chair rail in whatever colour you choose. Adds a little visual interest.

Nice job on the headboard. The only problem I see with the plug in wall sconce is the cord having to go over the chair rail.

I would look at SW Colonnade Gray and Repose Gray. Both good colors. Work in a lot of scenarios. I have Repose in most of my house--all directions, etc.

Great job on the headboard. I envy people like you who can make something out of nothing. I would paint the nightstands white to go with the headboard. If you don't mind my going off topic, the first thing I notice in the room are the pretty curtains because of the strong color, which is not repeated anywhere in the part of the room I can see. It's possible that in real life the color of the pillows is stronger and pulls the scheme together. I would consider adding some accents with that color in it, perhaps in some art over or beside the bed.

On my monitor it looks beautiful together: the orange curtains, the orange coverlet at the end of the bed and the orange in the pillows. I like the blend of solid color and pattern, really lovely to look at.
