Garden tea party
Comments (20)My daughter (6) had a tea party last year for her friends. It was "formal" so they all dressed up like princesses with their dress-up clothes and jewelry. After having "tea" (fruit juice in a tea pot) and cookies, I gave them each a vase and a scissors and we cut flowers to make a bouquet to take home to their moms. It was a LOT of fun. We decorated the kids playhouse and had the tea party there, which is in the garden. From Garden Girls Tea Party Would you like to come in for some tea? Comments (29)I thought I would check in before leaving for the weekend. Yesterday was a day from hell. I am asking you again for prayers and support for my family. What I am going to tell you is almost impossible to believe. It concerns two of my nephews. One is ninth grade, the other away at college, finishing up his senior year. Last week my brother and his wife received a call from the ninth grader's school, saying that he had suffered an "episode" and recommended taking him to the doctor. To make a long story short, he had gotten extremely stressed out at school (he is always on the honors list) and just cracked. They described it as a manic episode. He is seeing several doctors and has gotten better, went back to school yesterday. When talking to my mother yesterday morning, she said she had started receiving some very bizarre emails from our other nephew, who is away at college. She didn't want to bother my brother, because of everything they had been going through with the younger son. I asked her to forward them to me, and gosh almighty, they were more than bizarre, really out of it, almost suicidal. So I told her I was going to track down my brother and/or his wife at their work and let them know. To make a long story short, this nephew has also suffered some sort of manic breakdown - they tested him and did not find drugs or alcohol in his system and will be committing him to a mental hospital for evaluation. My brother is with him, as my sister-in-law had to stay home with the other son. I was hesitant to post this on a forum, but I believe in prayer and that it can help heal, and my poor brother and his family need it in the worst way. They are just stunned and in shock. They are the last family you would think something like this would happen to. Very stable environment, very supportive of their children. Thank you for letting me share....See MoreFOTESS Jan 2017 12 Step Program for Gardeners (wink)
Comments (125)Heidi, sometimes I think that standing on my head might be the answer! I'm already planning what I'm going to do this year, in my gardens. I'm looking forward to seeing what the plants I bought from Prairie Moon will do in their second year. They looked rather weevily this year, but that's to be expected. On the other hand, the Silene Regia sure attracted the hummers, they looked like they were fighting over the few blooms there were. I'm not buying any plants (oh sure), l want to work on my containers, hanging baskets and planters - seeds for the annuals. I need to do a heavy mulching again this year too. Can't wait to see the Iris! Well, I am watching the second game of the night - the Dubs are winning - nothing unexpected about that. I am also composing a letter to the Pistons coach, which starts: "Dear Mr. VanGundy, why do you bring your team high scorer in off the bench? And in case you haven't noticed, KCP can't hit for S--t. Just saying" I am too old for this. Shirley!...See MoreFeb FOTESS - Sowing The Seeds Of Love
Comments (180)Well, if all goes like this - I'll have enough water this summer (yippee yahoo!!!!). Just have to keep my fingers crossed the power lasts through the storm, so if you don't see me for a few days, no worries! I'm halfway from Murphys downtown to Forest Meadows, above 2,600ft, so my snow should be reasonable. Our Bear Valley ski area might get 7ft just from this storm. Happy dance even if it means I freeze without power and miss my internet connections as phone and satellite often poop out. Batteries out, check, extra water filled in jugs and pitchers, check (no power = no well = no water), food run yesterday, 2 cases of bottled water, hummingbird feeders full to the brim (this will be really hard on them)....See Moresandlapper_rose
