Have you ever lost your wallet/purse and had it returned?
Comments (39)My lost & found experiences: Like a lot of people I often think how great it would be to find a bunch of money. But I always hope that If I do, PLEASE let there be no ID with it, because thanks to that guilt trip my Mom (very religious) laid on my when I was a kid, I'd have to do all I could to locate the rightful owner. I wouldn't ask for a reward either. I wouldn't turn it in anywhere because I believe that sadly in this day and age the average person would just pocket it. Found $65 on the floor of a nightclub in Avalon NJ, just the money, no ID. Sweet! Found $30 in Sears parking lot at Neshaminy Mall, NE Phila. - no car parked nearby. Again, cash only. Found a passport walking from the train to work. Tracked down the owner, called, said I'd bring it over. Knocked / rang the bell, no answer, car in the driveway. I think they didn't want to risk me asking for a reward (I wouldn't). I left it in the mailbox. When my 24 year old daughter was 3 she found a childs wallet in the playground with $3 and address / phone number inside. She wanted to keep it but I said we have to return it. The mother didn't eveen say thank you. I gave Kris $1 as a reward. When I delivered pizza part time I found $43 with no ID in the shop but it was where the drivers congregated and there was only one other driver working with me. I returned the money. Older peope are no more or less honest than the younger ones. Again as a pizza deliverer, I took an order to a florist shop. When they paid me I put the money in my jacket pocket, something I never did, usually. Walking back to the car I reached in to retrieve the money & felt only change. I turn back toward the door - I'm about 30 feet away - and the old lady who ran the register by the door is scuttling toward the bill, a ten, reaching for it when her eyes met mine. I quickly said 'Looks like I dropped my change.' She replied 'Yeah, I guess so.' or something like that. She got up and walked back inside....See MoreWhat's In Your Wallet, er, Checking Account?
Comments (23)I think people feel more secure having some cash on hand now after the economic turmoil in 2008. So many people lost their homes. It can be difficult sometimes to liquidate other holdings to cover the mortgage. Most people also don't have the amount of emergency savings they should have in case of job loss so they may have higher checking accounts to cover that. I think in 2007 a lot of people were over stretched from the lax borrowing conditions, so they had less cash on hand. I like to think people learned lessons from it. I bet region factors in as well. Where I live, $4k is less than a single mortgage payment so it would be bad to only have that amount but in lower cost of living areas, that could be several months of living expenses. Personally we keep more than the average balance but transfer excess over when it hits a certain threshold into savings or investments....See MoreMoving Your Plants Indoors? Grow with lights!
Comments (28)Okay, here are my thoughts so far: This Erlwhatsis LED panel is a 45-watt fixture that provides about 20k lux of plant-yummy light at a distance of about 4 inches. This drops rapidly to 8k to 10k lux at a distance of about 10 inches from the panel. Light intensity also declines the farther the plant is from the center of the array. I have two 12-watt TaoTronics bulbs on either side of the panel and they throw out 40k lux but they have a circular array of LEDs so that's actually only a light point of about 2 to 3 inches in diameter, declining rapidly outside the focal point. Basically you can put one plant in the middle and anything around that one plant will be poorly-lit. Just to put in context, direct sunlight is over 100k lux, increasing in intensity as you get closer to the, er, sun, measured in astronomical units of 150 million kilometers. To improve light distribution, I am planning to attach white panels on the sides of this shelf. Above this setup is my other plant shelf, under T5HOs. Now, if you want to keep your plants growing throughout winter, a 45-watt panel is not going to be enough light to keep your plant compact, especially if you are planning to heat the area up to summer temperatures and keep feeding them. This will work for me because I do not plan to keep them heated in the basement, nor to feed them. IME, this slows them down to the point of semi-dormancy. Basically, this is winter shutdown for some of my adeniums. That said, LED grow lights generate wavelengths very specific for plant growth. That part, I have to monitor this winter since it will be very different from plants just scavenging usable wavelength from daylight T5HOs. In my home office, though, that's a different story. That stays tropical all throughout winter. I hope this helps someone! Pagan...See MoreI have this "thing" with purses and wallets...
Comments (24)Try looking at Coach and Coach Outlet online. Coach offers free shipping to the Continental United States (free shipping to Canada for orders over $100, otherwise shipping to Canada is $15). Coach Outlet is offering free shipping for a limited time to the Continental United States and Canada. Coach Outlet normally charges (for the Continental US) $5 for orders under $30; $10 for orders $30-$200; and free for orders over $200; and normally it's $15 to Canada. They give accurate measurements for the items, and for handbags they also show them either on a mannequin or on a model, so you can accurately gauge their size. They show photos of the interior of handbags and wallets, too....See MoreOlychick
