That's an interesting option. This particular problem though occurs as FF starts up (before it even opens tabs) so I think you'd still have a dup task problem. I use toolbar folders to open frequently used URLs without cluttering up desktop with deskcuts. I forgot to mention to also check any entries on the toolbar which start up FF tasks. These could also be culpable. I just disabled and re-enable all toolbar entries which use FF. So far so good. Funny this problem hasn't more documentation out there - it's really aggravating!

Please share your public school conspiracy theory with us. It's funny, because if anything, the many private schools run by religious extremist groups serve up plenty of propaganda. What school parents send kids to is a choice, if private tuition can be afforded, but that doesn't negate the tremendous importance of public schools to all of us. Having the best possible public schools is essential, they educate the majority of tomorrow's members of our communities and our society. It's a serious responsibility and one that private schools will never fill. AND, in my opinion, learning cursive writing just isn't an essential skill. olychick, cursive writing and its appearance and patterns are quite different in Europe than here. It may be that what you wrote wasn't legible for them. Or, it hit someone on the wrong day and they didn't want to try. Just as with speaking slowly using simple words for a foreign audience, block letters (which are also somewhat different) are the best choice when you know the writing will be read by a non-American.

Wow.. never knew about this.. pretty simple.. It works.. .. screen shot and paste into paint and save as JPG.. we should all have adobe reader.. this is version 9 and they offer this free. Paint is in Windows. Open the PDF, Under TOOLS, click select and zoom, go down menu to Snapshot tool, click that, and copy the picture? whatever, and open paint program, store in paint, and Under file in Paint, click SAVEAS whatever JPG, and be sure and choose JPG in type of file below. I am a newbie using this, and hope I explained it correctly. Good luck!!!!!!!! If I can do it anyone can!!!!!!!!!! I found I don't need another program on the machine, already have it.

The Shift key + F8 worked, and so now I need to get a new flash drive so that I will have a recovery option. I have a blank 4 gig flash drive, but I normally keep that in the blu-ray player, as it needs the memory, and that is the perfect size for it. Not sure what size I need for a recovery drive. I could possibly also make a blu-ray disc - would that have enough storage for a recovery disc? I really appreciate your help, as your tip worked perfectly, and I would not have thought of it on my own. The recovery option in my computer for the recovery drive would take the computer back to Win 7, which would probably be okay, if necessary. I'm just hoping that this problem does not continue. The problem started this time when I tried to turn on the computer while the monitor was unplugged (this happened accidentally without my noticing it), and plugging it back in did not solve the problem on its own.
