Bathroom Reno Questions

texanjana

This is the year that we are hopefully going to start updating our bathrooms, starting in the master. Our house was built in 1998. No plumbing, walls, etc. will be moved. Things I would like to do:

New solid surface countertop

Replace huge frameless mirror with two or three smaller ones

Replace jacuzzi tub with free standing tub

Replace shower surround and pan with tile

New floor tile

Remove wallpaper, texture and paint

Keep existing vanity, paint it and add knobs or pulls

New door hardware

New light fixtures

Add a window treatment

We will hire a contractor to do the work. I know what I like generally, and I think I have good taste. We will most likely sell this house within the next 10 years, so plan to keep things pretty generic, and I love white bathrooms (except floors).

My question is where do I start? Do I go to a place like Ferguson's and just start looking at items? How do I set a budget for this? Main bathroom is 12' by 13' plus 4' by 5' potty room. Thanks for any insight. PS Although it's not apparent in the pics, wallpaper has a lot of green it.
