OT: Rain Rain go away.....
Comments (8)Awe poor fishies. I was planting my water hawthorne a little while ago and saw my koi finally. He was hiding in the leaves in the bottom of the pond. This is the coolest plant. It blooms in the winter. I broke the dang bloom off when I was planting it though. Cant' find much info about it but its neat....See MoreOT - Rain and flooding
Comments (8)You know that saying 'when it rains, it pours'? Not just a saying for us -- reality, particularly this month and last. We'll have a few sunny/dry days, but all it takes is one of these massive bad boys coming through to put us under again: My family is far flung, so I message these radar shots to them frequently. Thankfully, our area isn't prone to flooding (though the water line gets a bit too high for my comfort in the backyard!); but I know so many have been flooded, and it's just very sad....See MoreOT - RAIN in far Nor Calif.
Comments (7)We in the southern part of the SF Bay area are getting excited about maybe getting 1/4-1/3 inch of rain, which is good but not impressive. But then I have been known to get excited about as little as a tenth of an inch. I'm glad to hear that the fire area got more than that, and that the southern part of the state will also be included in this wave of rain....See MoreOT - RAIN! Yesterday an early storm eruupted...
Comments (12)Good luck to you all, folks, and, Jackie, congratulations! We had a good rain a couple of days ago, perhaps 2cm in our area, instantly absorbed by the dry ground. I hope it rained more higher up in the mountains--a friend who lives in that direction reported storms in the afternoon before it began raining here--and fed the reservoir, which is just about dry. The rain we've gotten in the past two months, though not enough evidently to recharge the aquifers, has kept the plants watered, so that the ones that survived the summer are now doing reasonably well. Some are thriving: I was checking out the old part of the big garden, and discovered that the Buddleia alternifolia that has sat still for a good decade, finally has launched into growth, while its neighboring shrubs were also hearty. I'm full of plans for the garden, stymied and stifled by two realities: one, the still-dry ground, the other, the limitations of my own strength and energy. Still, it's good to dream. I hope that bart bart also got rain. Forecast is for more rain this coming weekend. I hope so, and for the likewise predicted falling temperatures. It's still quite warm during the day, and miserably buggy....See MoreDara McKay
