Supper Time on Tuesday!
Comments (22)Yes, that sounds like our noodles, because we add baking powder to dumplings to give them some 'fluff', then drop by spoonfuls onto hot soup or stew (often bean soup, in my MIL's case, which I did not find appetizing.) The source I read said that rivals are pinched off and dropped into stock, which made me think of dumplings. We roll out noodles. My father's family had friends, of German descent, who called the extruded flour and egg mixture 'strudels' or maybe 'stroodles'--I don't know how they would have spelled it. He said they dropped the dough into boiling water and served it plain. He was always disappointed to be asked to dinner on the day it was served, because although his family was not well off, they always had meat stock for their noodles! ETA, I'd always seen 'strudel' presented as a German pastry....See MoreSupper Time on Tuesday!
Comments (16)Today is my and hubby's 36th Wedding Anniversary. We ordered takeout from one of the local town diners.. I had the blueberry pancakes with a cup of tea, and hubby got the French toast, eggs and bacon.. Sometimes we just love having good ole breakfast food for dinner.....See MoreSupper Time on Tuesday!
Comments (19)My husband didn't come home, so I didn't cook. I had a ham sandwich on white bread. Jody doesn't like white bread, so I always buy wheat bread. But, I bought two cheap loaves for my pet pig, so I kept a couple of slices and made a ham sandwich. I made tartar sauce a couple of days ago...mayo, stuffed olives and Claussen dills...and it is really a good sandwich spread, so had that on my sandwich. I found a recipe I wanted to try. I bought a little cook book put out by the extension service in Galveston Co. They have a pecan show and a contest for the best pecan recipes. I found a recipe for jalapeno cornbread with toasted pecans and bacon. (Also has sour cream and cheese in it). I was going to make it tonight and make shrimp gumbo, since I fry bacon and use bacon grease for the roux....so I will do that tomorrow. I was late getting in the house tonight, by the time I finished feeding all the animals. It takes at least an hour and a half to feed...so by the time I got in....I was glad I didn't have to cook....See MoreSupper Time on Tuesday!
Comments (20)Salmon patties, made with canned salmon, a little minced onion and green pepper, and dusted with corn meal before browning in ghee....we like them a bit crunchy on the edges. Made a quinoa salad this morning with all kinds of fresh, raw veggies including a bit of seeded jalapeno for some nice heat. It's been marinating in a light vinaigrette all day. I'm going to slice a juicy tomato from the garden just before we eat and serve everything with a bowl of tzatziki with fresh dill on the side....See More- Marilyn Sue McClintock thanked comtessedelacouche (10b S.Australia: hotdryMedclimate)
