Yipppeeee- Costco tulip bulbs have arrived
Comments (12)Johnny's Seeds has a small selection of 14cm tulips starting at $6.25 for 10 and going down from there for greater quantities. I bought some 14cm Pink Impressions from them last year and the blooms were enormous. The Costco Tulip bulbs are all 12cm+, and all the ones I've bought so far have been quite healthy, just as nice as the ones from Van Engelen, B&B's, and other quality mail order houses. Comments (76)Gardenpoppy, Just shipped out my box today priority and put the same inside. I sent daffodil bulbs, white calla lily bulbs, pink tulips, orange Wyoming canna, and misc cannas that could be red yellow or orange. (I forget what color they were) My biggest want for this swap would be to have pink cannas, not salmon but pretty pink with green leaves. I would give away all of my orange ones for pink!!! And of course the usual-love to have asiatic, oriental lilies, alliums-love them too, etc... anything pink, purple or white. This has been fun, next year will be better because I will have more stuff to swap. Thanks again for hosting!!! jenny....See MoreJAP Beetles have arrived
Comments (8)Milky Spore is supposed to work well on your property....neighbors... Ha! Anyway I have used traps, squished, Sevined, and spored a small amount. It all helps in the long run as I have had only 1 so far on mine...that I have noticed anyway. Some say not to use the traps or get a neighbor to use them...Cowards LOL. Every dead beetle especially early in the season is a plus. It definitely is very helpful to have some "trap" crops near you to draw them to feed on something that doesn't matter...like wild grape vines. Then you can kill them off from there. They normally do not bother my veggies as there are "trap" crops nearby!!!...See MoreCan not wait for the fall bulbs to arrived
Comments (2)Funny, I was just checking out a couple of sites on the web with pics just before I came here and read your title! I have ordered some but was of course looking to see if anyone had put up a new variety since then, LOL. My Amies are still outdoors but I have quit watering now. Will leave them there until either we get a lot of rain forcast or I begin to see some cold temps. We are havng out best weather of the summer now, nice sunny days in the 70 degree range. I have had 5 of my beauties bloom outside... Grandeur, 2 double red ones and 2 single red ones. Each was beautiful but bugs had eaten into the petals on one of the red singles....probably an old garden variety slug coming down from the blackberry plants that keep trying to grow over them. ON second thought maybe it was ripped by blackberry thorns when I cut them off and tossed them away last week. Those darn things grow about 6 feet a week it seems like right in through the fence and over my amies! I see it is time for more blackberry removal this winter. Plenty of beauties still in the garden so I can not wish for summer to end just for the sake of the amies, but when it does, it will be so wonderful to have them! I now have over 100 plants plus all those baby ones I started last year...do not quite know what I am going to do with all them!...See Moresuncoastflowers
