Mirror in front of window or to side? Duplicate bathroom forum
Comments (16)Such a lovely view! I'm concerned with how the swivel would work...If it lays flat against the wall until you use it, the way it would swing may be out to far to be both near the sink and at a comfortable viewing distance from the mirror. I wonder if there isn't a way to mount a mirror at the bottom of the sill so when you stand at the sink and look down, you see your full face, but when you look up, it's low enough to enjoy the view. It would have to be on a tilt. I think I would then mount sconces to the side walls and use a single pendant in the middle...something made out of glass or crystal as to not interfere with the view....unless there was also a cool way to mount a light or a lamp to the middle of the sill or the backsplash....See MoreBathroom sconces beside mirror? Comments (5)Thanks, Chispa. The ceiling fan was installed this week, so I can finally see in the bathroom. Here are pictures taken without flash. The black walls make it look darker, but when the drywall goes up, that will help. The floors, walls, shower tile, etc. will be light colored. Plus the shower is essentially open with two walls of glass. The toilet will be on the left corner where the towel is on the floor. The tub will go on the lower left where the missing tiles are. The two yellow circles represent where the lights will go above the vanity. There is not much room since the vanity is 48" wide. I could move the vanity to the wall on the right, but I believe the lights would not be bright enough to reach the door. If I put two lights with 100 watt bulbs on the toilet wall, the lights should reach the door. I guess I could put a double light on each side of the mirror, but I have not seen any pictures of double lights on each side of a mirror. The first is 18" wide and the second is 12" wide. That takes away space for the mirror which I need to reflect light. I would rather have a 36" mirror than a 24" mirror. It looks like a single light on each side of the mirror will have to do....See MoreBathroom sconce vertical height with 30" high mirror
Comments (4)My mirror is roughly the size of yours. When planning my remodel, I used a 60" wall in my bedroom (the width of my vanity) but could have easily taped out a section of any wall. The blue, horizontal tape in the photo is counter height, and I hung my mirror there. I then cut out sconces in the rough size of some I liked and taped them up to see if I liked the dimensions. I did....See MoreRecessed light over bathroom sink in addition to side sconces
Comments (26)@3onthetree The revised lighting with (3) 4" cans in the shower is too much - 1 can is sufficient. Still no exhaust fan. Agree - shower is about 5'x5' - I could see maybe 2 lights - one over the bench and one in center - but not 3. The revised lighting replaced the ceiling mount central room fixture with 2 recessed cans. Too much - the basic ambient lighting of the small room will be covered by the two vanity recessed, the bathtub light, and the Linen recessed which are all switched together. - Don't think they will all be switched together - I think vanity sconces and maybe the recessed over the vanity (based on cpartist comments) will be switched separately The revised lighting replaced the 2 recessed over the bathtub with a single ceiling mount fixture (probably chandelier). This would have very specific code requirements - what you typically see in Pinterest photos is against code. Correct - according to electrician they do this all the time and just change it after inspection or something like that? Electrician suggested the chandelier/(or something flush likely because 8' ceilings) over the tub and DH and I thought that sounded nice. Yes - re: steam shower - and there is a fan already in place in the main bathroom - it's just not noted on this plan. My designers aren't updating all of the plans exactly on their end, so they didn't note it on here. But it's already roughed in....See MoreRelated Professionals
