I love that mirror, Shee, and for $20, it's a steal! I've been looking everywhere for mirrors, and even the cheapest ones don't come close to that. If you don't like it in the bathroom, you could save it for use in another room. I'd jump on it if it were here!

I think stick with your original idea of using a larger oval mirror.

I would absolutely buy that mirror if it looks as good IRL! I also wanted to replace a mirror in one of our baths and almost choked when I started looking at the prices. Looks like I will need to refinish the frame on ours. Even if you decide you don't like it over your sink (and I think it would look nice there), I'll bet you can find a spot for it. If not, you'll be able to get more than $20 for it!

I like the mirror a lot. I wonder how it would look with the vanity painted black and the mirror left as is?

It looks nice but I don't know about driving that far for such a small item. Furniture that you got a good price on, yes. But I'd be tempted to look closer to home for a small item like that. Have you priced out mirrors locally? How much would you spend on gas?

Ajsmama - It wouldn't bother me if I could arrange it on a day I worked. I'm still not wild about the location.

Everything from my house is a good 20 min. I've been checking the local thrift store on and off but all the ones I've seen are too small, not nice and too much.

I did email her to see if she still had it and asked where she was located. Waiting to hear. Tomorrow after work isn't an option to go get it because of traffic. They're calling for more snow Mon. & Tues. I guess we'll see if she's willing to work with me.

It's a lovely mirror and for a great price, though I'd prefer a larger sized oval mirror for your space. The CL one just seems like it would emphase an extrememly tall and narrow vanity area. I'd definitely mock out the 42" height with some newspaper.

It looks like cherry wood instead of oak to me. Would it be something you could use in another part of your house if it didn't fit well in the bath? It's nice for the price.

I think it would be perfect, wow great price. Looks like cherry or maple to me not oak. If the lights are staying I think you need the height in the mirror. I think the oval mirror you have there now is too small.

Is is a nice mirror and a great price, but honestly, I'm not seeing it for your bathroom. I'm seeing something more ornate (metal type frame).

I'd hold out for the perfect one. LOL

Curious about those lights. I've never seen a set-up like that in a bathroom. Do they get in the way?

I love the mirror, but with your style lights, I think you need something dressier/more ornate. I blew the photo up and I think it's pine. The dark area at the top appears to be a knot, and the same on the bottom and lower left side, but you do lose some clarity when you do that. If you had side sconces or a sconce above a wall mirror, I could see it.

Seller still hasn't emailed me back. I also agree it doesn't look like oak.

Anyhow, here's a mock up. The vanity is 30" wide. Current mirror is only 18" wide including the frame! Pretend it's straight. The lights can move out (and up) a good 3 1/2". Can shorten the chains. Anyone have a different thought now? It's larger than what it looks in the listing.

Hmmm... there's just not enough room for a mirror and side sconces even though I love the look.

Natal - No, they don't get in the way. I originally wanted the lights to slightly overlap the mirror (1st time ever trying to decorate. Bought the mirror and lights off ebay) but they should be out farther. I saw this set up in a house back when I was in my late teens and loved it. They had way more room to work with though.

I think the mirror and light scale/set up looks horrible in photos but IRL, to my eye, it doesn't look that bad. I think that's the only reason I've been taking my time with changing it. lol Either way the mirror will go because it's too small. :(

The problem I'm having with trying to find a mirror, especially oval, is I don't always know how wide the frames are. Thick frame = smaller mirror.

Btw, not against painting the vanity but that's probably another thread.

I vote against it; I find the wood shadings very uneven and it might be too rustic looking for your bathroom.
I think your original idea is the best one.

I remember a bath with those swag lights that had both of them swagged to one side, one higher than the other. Any chance that would work for you? You could then have them on the outside of the space further to the left a bit and it would give you more room. I think it would work with a larger square mirror, if that appeals to you. If the light on the left stayed close to where it is, but was up higher and the other light was hanging outside it, just a bit lower, maybe as low as they are now? And with not quite so much slack in the chain. Not one directly above the other, but one over more to the left a bit.

I agree theat the CL mirror seems too rustic with the other more traditional things you have in the bathroom. I would go with a traditional bevelled mirror.

I still like it. I think it would look great with your vanity and the wall color. I also like the idea of swagging (is that a word?)both lights to one side.

I still think that a larger oval mirror would be a better choice with those great lights. Go with your first instinct!

I like it and $20!!!!!! It's a HUGE improvement over the existing oval one. You should trade up! Get it!

I still like it. As I said previously, you need the height to work with your lights and also I like that it is wood, you already have metal in your lights, so the wood warms it up. Also the oval shape of the mirror and then the lights with the chains is too much shapes going on, you the need the simple lines of this mirror to balance the light fixtures. If you dont get this one, you definately need a rectanuglar mirror not oval.

Nice mirror for over a chest or table, perhaps painted black and antiqued.

I don't see it fitting the style of the cabinet or lights in the bathroom. Too bulky and masculine for the feminine feel of the lights, too.

Wanted to update. The seller never got back to me. I love that. They just posted it, no phone number, no response and it's still listed.

That happens to me all the time too. It's even worse when they've had it listed a while - then you *know* they've had time to take the ad down if it sold, but no, it's still up and no response.

Or like when I was looking at porch rockers, trying to set up a time to go see a pair, they responded to me once saying they were still available but when I emailed again suggesting a time (weekend) they never got back to me.
