Nagami kumquats

I have 3 in-ground Nagami kumquats grown from seed in zone 7b. I know I have read kumquats can tolerate down to 18 F or so. The last couple of nights, we have gotten down to around 14-15 F. All were covered with cloth overnight, but no additional winter protection was given to them. They all look rather healthy at this point. Makes me wonder if kumquats on native rootstock are even more hardy than grafted ones, or perhaps kumquats are even more cold-hardy than has been typically reported.

While I know grafted kumquats perform better, has anyone had personal experience or heard of seed-grown kumquats blooming and/or bearing fruit?
