UPDATE on Dwarf Nagami Kumquat :-)

last modified: 7 years ago

I am THRILLED to report that the shoot / water spout I reported in a previous post (see photo #2 below) is filling out since I cut it back about 3" last month. In fact, the whole plant is loaded with new growth and new shoots coming up everywhere (above the graft) !!! I planted it in 2013 (prior to that it was in a large pot for over 10 years - fruiting but never growing taller), and this year --- it's 3rd year in the ground --- it is growing like gangbusters. I'm doing the HAPPY HAPPY dance!

Last year I got serious about regular feedings (EB Stone organic citrus fertilizer) and continued this year.

Patience and perseverance are paying off!!! I am overjoyed!

Here is my original post in 2015 (Dwarf nagami Kumquat still only 24" tall).

Spring 2015 (2 years after planted in the ground): Lots of fruit! Some new foliage around the top but no real gain in height.

June 28: 2016: Single new shoot (above graft). Hope springs eternal!

July 23, 2016: One month after trimming the shoot about 3" and a light trim around the bottom. Tiny new fruit all around.
