Now members will have a single portal to all four of your same topic threads, and you will only have to keep one alive if need be. One thread is historically the best way to go. Comments (3)Mike, do you like scaring people with suggestive and (in my opinion) misleading comments? The WEP "encryption" (it's a stretch to call it that) was broken years ago. It's easily defeated and is essentially open. That's not even old news. it's very old news. WPA2 is difficult to crack, and a financial conversation using https is very, very, very difficult to intercept. I won't say impossible, but beyond the reach of other than top pros. I think any user here should feel completely safe in using a properly secured home PC and WPA2 wifi signal to conduct any nature of communications over the internet. Yes, a wire can be more secure but the EM radiation wires and PCs emit can also be intercepted too. Are you suggesting every home needs radiation shielding?...See MoreWhich Thermostat to select
Comments (6)What thermostat do you currently have, and how is it wired to the 59TN6A furnace? The Infinity thermostats use a 4 wire connection (power, ground, and 2 data connections). If that is what you currently have then you will need additional wires if you want to use the Honeywell or the Carrier Cor thermostats. If you want better fan and humidity control then spending the extra money on the Infinity thermostat makes sense. When you buy a communicating furnace it is always best to buy the manufacturer's communication thermostat....See MoreLooking for wifi thermostat with second override thermostat
Comments (2)I think your best option is to buy your preferred WiFi thermostats and hook them up to a zoning panel. This would allow the basement apartment to call for heat and cooling. The Honeywell HZ311 is a possible choice. It can control up to three zones. You would be basically setting up a zoning systems without any dampers. You will have everything in place to create a zoned system at a later date. There are several YouTube videos on how to install these panels. You can also buy the kit version which includes the transformer. These panels are designed to be professionally installed. If you have basic DIY wiring skills you should be able to do it, or hire an HVAC company to install it....See More- 8 years ago
