Things you've never done before
Comments (31)LOL Suzy. Yay for all the cooking. Way to go. Buttercream.......slurp. Good on a cake, better off your finger or a spatula or bowl, or beater. LOL. I'm overdue for some. Darn diabetes makes it a very infrequent addition to our diet. Good thing it freezes pretty well, since I usually freeze at least half the cake, sometimes 3/4. Robin, you did good to get your Sis to do that job. Grass that long is not for the beginner. Smiles. Even starting mowers that have been sitting since last season can be a pain and require a new spark plug at the least. LOL Lilo, Mowses. Love it. I love my lawn tractor. I call it riding the grass. It's my favorite. I often have people offer to do that for me. NOOOO. Use the push mower for the hill, weed, anything but ride MY grass. Even when I'm so crippled up I can barely get to the garage, that's my reward for making it out there. Krista, I have changed a radiator. Admittedly a long time ago. Not super hard but get ready for some swearing since it's in such a tight place it's usually hard to get at the bolts and such. Also, it depends on what else is hooked to it, like the water pump and such, how hard it is to get out... and in. I bought a rebuilt one so saved a lot of money by doing it myself. Then again, I've changed the heads on a car. That requires you to have a working torque wrench. Those darn bolts can be torqued right off. LOL..The guys at the parts store didn't believe me. Said they're hardened steel. OOpps.. I'm not big on shelled things like oyster, mussels, clams. Think I've only tried clams raw once. I'm told I prepare them all quite well though. I've never eaten sushi. Never rode a unicycle. Wink. Never been our of the contiguous USA. Never had a professional manicure or pedicure, nor hair dye....See MoreI didn't realize how hard it is to do some things when you dont'
Comments (20)As i said my nails didn't fall off but they were grey striped, and red spots, yet they were very strong, and i'll never figure that one out.I actually used one of my nails to screw a screw back into something that had become loose. Now that chemo is over,my nails are no longer discolored, and they grow but are very soft.I was going to try the biotin, but when i read the label it had soy in it,and i have to steer clear of soy as well,so i didn't buy it. Kat ,i hear ya,when it comes to picking things up,i told DH the other day when i went back to work years ago after having kids,i got the job i applied for because i had good finger dexterity, now i have trouble picking up the pills i have to take!!! Hope your nails come back nice and strong, and your hair too if you lost it. Comments (9)I don't know if the following would work, Cancook Flooring would know. Seems like the required sanding would be minimal if removed. Years ago(12 or so), I installed a perimeter glued sheet vinyl product. The adhesive was applied in a 4" wide band around the outside edges. A band 12" wide of adhesive was centered under where edges were butted together in the field. In 24 hours, the sheets shrunk and were quite tight. The only problem the home owner found(and the manufacturer and I told her about it) was the vinyl bunched if heavy furniture was dragged on the flooring. I did apply a layer of luaun over the subfloor(not hardwood) and filled the seams(product instructions said small gaps would not telegraph---I did not trust that!). The result was quite nice looking(after the adhesive had fully cured(3-4 days)....See MoreGetting rid of perfectly good things you never use
Comments (15)I am one who regularly goes through stuff and regularly schedules a charity pick up. ( used to be a lot more often when we were in our previous much larger home and had all the "kid' stuff as well). We downsized a few years ago so definitely did the big purge then. There's still a lot of stuff though in our new home and while it's really not crowded, there are plenty of things that I just haven't come to terms with. Ded, I am with you on the photos and sentimental items. I try to get on that project but all I am able to do is baby steps. ( in addition to our immediate family I have my parents' and in law's photos and stuff). I have never had a garage sale and have not used marketplace but I am very big on buy nothing and freecycle and nextdoor for free. I have done that with furniture and it saves us the trouble of hauling it down or up stairs and out. The people who have wanted the items have been totally lovely. Very rare that someone is not interested for free and the bonus part is that you know they will be using it-...See Moremonicakm_gw
