New Asko 6424 washer problem

User

I have had a consistent problem with three (!) new Asko 6424 clothes washers and am wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience. The 240V internal water heaters on my washers, while working, did/do not heat the water to Asko-specified temperatures, at least on the high-heat setting (Sanitary Wash cycle in particular, although the high heat option is available on several other cycles). The high heat setting is supposed to heat the water to 205 degrees, or near boiling, but several visits from Asko-authorized service measured the maximum water temperature at the high heat setting at just 140 before the heater turned itself off. They agreed that it was not operating up to specification on the high heat setting. (They did not test whether the "hot" setting heated the water to its specified temperature, or the "warm", etc.)

This issue probably wouldn't be worth a post if it hadn't recurred on the two replacement machines I have received, one from the dealer, and another from Asko itself. So I am now on my third machine, and the high heat setting still does not operate to spec. I haven't yet called for service on this latest machine, but it behaves exactly the same as the first two. I suspect that there is a flaw in the logic board that controls when and how long the heater is activated, and that many such 6424 washers are afflicted in this way. Certainly my three have been. They are expensive washers at ~$1600, and their high heat capabilities were one of the reasons I bought one.

The machine works well otherwise. Any thoughts?
