30' Electric Freestanding Range - Double ovens? Induction?
Comments (9)There was feedback on several earlier threads regarding the electrolux slide in. Most really liked the looks and the oven interior, but disliked the range top. Several had problems with the top scratching easily and the stainless part that divides the cooktop part with the controls being easily scratched. A few threads on another forum were also noting the same issues. A couple stated they would not buy it again. I have noted in sores that they are always smeary and scratched. I took my post to lowes and was requested not to place them on top of the range. Huh? Salesman told me he had just cleaned the top. I asked why I should not place my pans on the top of the range when that is what I would be doing several times a day if I bought one. His response....They are a b**ch to keep clean and they are supposed to attempt to keep all of the items clean. I have a 10 year old GE free standing range. it was made for sears. I have never been careful with it nor am I one who thoroughly cleans it after every meal. Sometimes it is very difficult to clean, but it never has scratched and when I do take the time to clean it well, it looks almost brand new. I really think the glass manufacture has something to do with this. Mine is a ceran top. I am intending to buy and=other range with a ceran top....See More30'' free standing/built-in range ($5k
Comments (8)Hi, am new to this site and am amazed at the number of ongoing posts and opinions about appliances. I am in the middle of needing to replace an Electrolux Wave Touch dual fuel range I purchased in 2009. I was away from my home for professional reasons for 2-1/2 years and when I returned, I noticed that the display was missing parts of letters and numbers. I call my local appliance store and found out it was still under the extended warranty and they sent a tech out to replace it the next day. When I tried to use the oven, I noticed it never reached 350 degrees, called the store back and at the next service call, they told me I needed a new relay board. Comes in a few days later, he puts it, goes phiiiiiit, arcs, then goes out. Still no oven. He calls Electrolux and they told him he has a bad board and they will send out another one. Week later a different tech comes out, replaces the board, and the same thing happens after turning on the oven. Electrolux then says to replace both the relay board and the control board. At the next visit, Electrolux tells the tech to remove a resister on the relay board, he does that, connects it, and still no oven. The engineer at Electrolux then tells the tech there was a software update on the control board and that they would have to replace the relay board again. The store at this point is refusing, and hopefully the third party warranty company has enough documentation to replace this unit. I have informed the store that I do not want another range, instead would prefer a pro-style all gas range. I used to have the bottom of the line semi open burner Viking and really liked that, despite having very heavy grates to clean. The store also recommended a 30-inch American Range Cuisine unit. I am thinking because the higher output, I am now wanting a propane open burner range, that the American Range Performa range may be a good option. If there is anyone out there who has had experience with the American Range units, I would really appreciate your thoughts....See Morechange from drop in cooktop to full free standing range
Comments (7)I have had kitchens like this before and what I am about to say will sound snobbish (but I don't mean it that way). Live with this as-is until you can replace the whole thing. Here's why I say this - these cabinets are probably at or near the end of their life. The drawer slides and cabinet hinges are going to start getting wobbly or sticking, and there is only so much you can do to fix it. If you replaced the cabinet hinges and drawer glides and countertop and cooktop and convert the dead wall oven space into cabinet space again ... You would be close to having a new RTA kitchen from Ikea. I know, you need an oven, but if you can live with a countertop microwave that has an oven feature in it ... That could buy you a little time. And honestly, I'm not trying to be a snob. It's just that I've done the "sand, prime, paint, replace hardware, get be counters priced out and new appliances" for a kitchen that looked just like this ... And I could have spent less time and a smidge more money to just replace the cabinets with new. At the time we didn't have an Ikea w/in a 3 hour drive. And it was my first house about 15 years ago, when the Internet wasn't as fully populated with great DIY sites like it is now....See MoreBest of the more affordable free standing 30 inch induction ranges?
Comments (17)I found out that the FrigidairePromotions.com rebate only applies to purchases from certain stores and the store I purchased from doesn't apply. The net price after matching Best Buy's $1399.99 sales price earlier this week is still less than if I had purchased from the eligible store and then got the rebate. Best Buy's price is up to $1699.99 now. I just submitted the rebate from the electric company and should get that credit back in a few weeks, The FGIH3047VF range is installed and working and everything looks good so far. It's not really smudge proof because the delivery mens' hands were dirty enough to still leave alot of smudges, However, the smudges wiped off much more easily from this surface than from normal real stainless steel. One surprise with this range is that it uses a full touch screen and not the plastic flex buttons like on FGIF3036TF. These type of controls feel more upscale like my previous Electrolux, but this also means it will be more expensive to repair if it fails after warranty. It "should" still be somewhat cheaper to repair the controls though since this screen technology is more mainstream in appliances than when the Electrolux used it in 2010 and it doesn't have the "Wave Touch" sensor feature the Electrolux did. This range also feels slightly more sturdy than the floor model FGIF3036TF I looked at. The largest burner is larger than I expected. So, it should be no problem with the largest pans I have. The specs say it is 8.3 inches, but I measured about 10 inches. Maybe the coil is 8.3" underneath, but the largest pan size marker on the cooktop measures 10 inches....See Moremayhemingway
