My baby Zucchini plant is dying - buds dying BEFORE opening
Comments (5)Umm, if those pictures show the new larger pot, the plant will continue to be in trouble. Much too small afor a plant that can easily become 4 feet across. It's early enough in the season that you might consider seeding new plants, fertilizing regularly as soon as the 2nd set of leaves develop. And it would likely be helpful to become acquainted with your county's Extension Service office which will be able to direct you to local gardening information. Use this interactive map to locate your county's office: http://www.csrees.usda.gov/Extension/ Here is a link that might be useful: locate your county's Extension Service office...See MoreMy baby Zucchini plant is dying - buds dying BEFORE opening
Comments (1)The Husband Guy says that it sounds like too much fertilizer. however, he also said that 3-4 hours of sun is not enough. If it got very hot where you are, a container pot could dry out very quickly. At any rate, I suspect that transplanting it did more harm than good. Sorry, but I think you need to forget this one and start over. He says that where you are, in South Florida, you would not have to worry about the last freeze date and could plant much earlier than March....See MoreNeed advice for my Kalanchoe blossfeldiana
Comments (15)It's making smaller leaves now bc the warehouse that grows them pumps them with lots of fertilizers and stuff. Im in the FL Keys and I never have any small leaves unless yhat part the plant has gotten knocked off or got a kink on the stem. I have an 8×3' harden on each side of our front door. One side is nothing but difft types of Kalanchos and they get Big and bloom all at once for the hummingbirds to come in spring. But remember that everything you pull a leaf you have a potential for a whole new new plant or more. Its crazy o just stuck the leaf on top of an empty bottle and wait. Its cool how they make a whole plant from between the ridges. My neighbor brought me 3 leaves from Hawaii about 15 years ago. I'm now in engaged with them, but its OK, I give lots away and the key Deer don't eat it! Win for me. Good luck, I know its been over 4 years but I still thought I'd answer your question. I hope 2020 goes away fast, its Dec 11....2021 can't come fast enough ✌💚🍄🎅🎄 Happy Holidays everyone...See MoreHelp!! Dying kalanchoe??
Comments (17)dchall By fishbowl you mean aquarium gravel, right? That would be OK to use, but fine sand is not. Fine sand actually doesn't drain that well at all. Much better ingredient would be grit (size of typical aquarium gravel) Rachel You would be surprised how much few months of proper light will help the plant to get healthier and easier to survive winter indoors. They will tolerate quite low temps (down to 25*F, maybe even lower?). I would leave it outdoors in much better natural light and also air circulation until nighttime temps stay constantly around 30*F mark. That could be still about 3 mo or so - I don't know what is growing zone in your location. Lots of time for plant to recuperate. IMO, your plant is suffering from both lack of light and too much moisture - the outside pot (the cache pot) is quite snug around the plastic one, water collects in the bottom of it and gets reabsorbed back making it to sit with wet feet. And with that moss on top, it is even more 'stuffy', lacking any air circulation. All of these are very easy to change if you want your plant to prosper. Here is my plant, the grit you see on top is the same used in potting mix (I use grit, perlite and smaller amount of turface): Even you doubt the health of your plant - so giving it best possible growing condition will only help to make it healthier. The aerial roots grow quite often on kalanchoes, and many other succulents. There is nothing to worry about, they often just dry out or could be snipped off......See Morerina_Ontario,Canada 5a
