Bodybag confession--Belle de Crecy
Comments (33)I also couldn't resist and bought two body bag roses from HD - labelled "Reine des Violettes" and "La Reine." Judging by the prickly base of the new growths, I'm almost 100% certain that RdV is mislabelled and most likely will be some other hybrid perpetual. I see some flower buds so hopefully I won't have to wait much longer before I can determine its true identity. I'll most likely be posting pics in the Rose ID forum. Meanwhile, the rose labelled "La Reine" is slightly more promising. Growths are completely smooth with not a single thorn. It may still be mislabelled as a notice the package classified the rose as a bourbon, which wouldn't be correct if it truly is "La Reine." I'm still hoping I will be pleasantly surprised and won't have to resort to shovel-pruning....See MoreContainer Count / Zone Wars 2011-2012 ~ Official Count (4)

Comments (5)I have tons of honeybees in my garden and have even seen a few flying during the winter months here. Was Oklahoma among the states included in the 24-state report? I don't know where they come from, but they are always here. I seem to have lots of things that they love, including the rotting bananas and watermelons! I've been reading Butterflies Through Binoculars, though, and Jeffrey Glassberg suggests that there are seasonal and annual fluctuations in butterfly populations. Like last year, I did not see any Red Admirals in my garden (I know Linda did), only one Buckeye, a very few Cloudless Sulphurs. Does this same thing happen with honeybees? I love when Glassberg states that manicured lawns are biological deserts! Wouldn't cha just love to go have a chat with those folks? Susan...See More'No Count Blues' Today
Comments (8)Thank you Renee for all of the great information! I have 3 Grndma's Purple Flag that I received in a trade. They were about 1/4" (NOT a typo) when I received them last fall. I planted them and they grew a little, went dormant for the winter. Reemerged in Spring (I thought they had died) and have been growing well but not near blooming size I think. Not that I know what blooming size is for that one mind you. That's great news on No Count Blues as it must have remontancy in its genes. It sure is pretty. I bet it is even much prettier in person. Because our summers are so hot and long I have heard that a lot of cultivars may rebloom here that don't normally rebloom elsewhere. We'll see... I have Total Recall on order because I had read in one of your posts on how much it bloomed. I have 2 Immortality planted and they are growing slow as a slug. Recurring Dream is growing and multiplying like crazy. I have 2 Feedback planted also, they are both growing well. But I've not seen this one bloom either. I hope that I get a fall bloom on both of these cultivars as I've not seen a bloom in person. I bought a Persian Berry one year ago and it bloomed beautifully this Spring, however it has not multiplied at all and I'm thinking of moving it but I think it might just up and die if I do that. So I am going to order another and plant it in a different spot. I figure if 2 die that were planted in different places then they will be on my X list as cultivars not to plant here. Thank you very much Renee! Rena'...See MoreBuford_NE_GA_7A
