albert- My response was to your first post. Looking at what you subsequently wrote, I'd say that it may make sense based on whatever filtering and spam identification software Yahoo has in operation. Spam filtering is a complex and imperfect art, and that folder with many links could have looked suspicious based on whatever algorithms were at work. If you try to send the links in the folder like you did at first and it gets kicked back again, that would likely confirm that this approach won't work. However, if you can use something else, like gmail or Hotmail, it may get through.

FYI.... A very short time ago, a friend of mine was a victim of this particular hack at Yahoo. I was listed in her contact list and all I can say is that this "nasty" is virulent. I don't use any Yahoo product and rarely, if ever visit their website. She is the only email friend I have that uses their email and even though we don't converse on a daily basis, just being one of her contacts made me a victim. I began to be barraged with unsavory mail...none of which I opened directly. But, no matter what protection I have on my system [and it's the best] I could not stop the onslaught. I suspect the reason being that I was not the addressee. The clever sender copied me rather than sending directly to my address. I tried every trick I knew to stop the mail...blocking IP #s, etc and nothing worked. My only recourse to stop the action was to delete my own email account entirely and begin a new. I'd had the account for sixteen years with nary a problem. Deleting it felt like loosing an old friend. Then I advised my friend to find another email program. Unfortunately, she didn't heed my advice and I expect she's been hit again. I insisted that she not put my new email address in her contact list so I may be safe this time around...but if not...the account I opened to continue conversing with her is what I consider a throw away account. I won't suffer if I have to close it quickly. Although...when I opened the new account to continue conversing with her...I made her promise not to list me as a contact anywhere on her system. I relate this experience for those of you...who like Jodi...are having difficulty resetting a password...and strongly suggest that you find new non-Yahoo email programs. As the unwitting recipient of my friends computer infection...I had to change all my accounts, etc and it's a task I wouldn't want to repeat. Anne

Patti, this applies to members of any Yahoo Groups. I can't say it applies to their email accounts, but I wouldn't doubt if it does. You'll have to read their privacy statement in the email accounts to find out for certain. This is a portion of the privacy statement for their Groups, which obviously is little privacy at all. But it was not excerpted from the privacy statement of their email accounts or toolbar. The Privacy Act where the internet is concerned is still very fuzzy. I think they are required to tell people what they do in their privacy statement. I also think they are required to provide viewing of the privacy statement along with their terms of use at the time you sign up. Most of us don't read those, just assuming we will not violate familiar rules. They rely on us not reading them, but, it's a good idea to read them whenever joining a website or group, when creating email accounts, and when installing anything.

I think it's a good policy to always avoid clicking on email links and instead navigate to the site of the purported sender to try to find the info. Or even use their customer service number, if they have one. Even here I'm careful about clicking on links, and usually copy and paste the link into my browser so I can see the actual link and not just the associated text. Not because I don't trust many of you, but I don't have years of getting to know every Houzz poster, and sometimes even well-meaning people can inadvertently post a dangerous link.
