Wish I could help you but the Apple Watch I wanted was the rose gold one, that ran about 16-17k dollars, so I don't have any Apple Watch. I hope someone comes along who can help you.

I can only answer your first question - I returned mine.

DH gave me one last year and I was definitely surprised when I opened the box. What's even worse is that he was thrilled that he had thought of a great gift and that I would love it. I didn't love it, I didn't it even like it, I thought it was a little ugly and obnoxious and it was way too large for my wrist (and he had picked the smaller version) and I honestly couldn't see the point. Perhaps if I were still working it might be handy but I don't even use my iPhone very often. Plus I have several beautiful luxury watches that I wear.

I dreaded disappointing him but after a few days I told him that I had to return it. He took it better than I had thought. Plus he hadn't realized that you still had to have your iPhone near in order to converse with your wrist.

Have you checked the online reviews to see if others have reported the same issues? And more importantly will you be able to return it without hurting your in-laws?

I'd return it if that's an option. I think it's a redundant product and not an attractive one either. Something about the style if it reminds me of men's watches from the 70s.

When I'm on a run, I carry my phone with me in a stretchy belt that fits around my waist. It isn't convenient to answer a phone call or switch between tracks when listening to music because I have to remove the phone from the belt and that's not exactly easy to do while running. I think an Apple watch would be slightly convenient in that it would let me do those things without having to touch my phone, but I really can't see much use for it otherwise.

It's probably a good idea to carry a phone with you anyway, just in case...

I'm with Maire Cate. It's something I have no interest in or desire for. I agree with others, it's not doing what you wanted, so return it. Also, you may want to reconsider carrying your phone. This time last year a good friend of mine (a daily runner) was running and rolled her foot/ankle, causing her to fall. She put out both hands and broke one wrist and banged the other one up pretty bad. Broke one ankle. The moral of the story is, she didn't have her phone and granted, she runs in the early morning, but she had to drag herself quite some distance before someone came along.

I don't think the phone would be helpful on walks for me. In PA, there's no phone reception (its the mountains) but there is regular roving neighborhood security and in FL, I walk in a subdivision a block away from our house (our street is short and has only a few homes set on big lots) so there are houses everywhere where I walk and always people out.

I think they are handy for people who "have to" have their phone on them but have to be more discrete. We are not to have our phones out at work, the younger crowd has gotten around this by reading texts, etc on their phone.

Don't have one, but I wouldn't use Apple if I did. I prefer Android OS for my smartphones.

Don't have one, but I would start with assuming it is a dud and see about exchanging it. Of the next one acts the same then maybe consider returning it and look at another brand.
