Thankfully, I have an older Cuisinart and it seems very sturdy. How frightening to have one where pieces of metal come off the blades and risk injuring people with these metal shards. I just used mine this morning to make Martha Stewart's Cheese Sticks and will check the blades just in case.

I have a mini Cuisinart food processor - perfect for chopping an onion or two - and a full size competitive brand processor. I can't imagine being without either and they have worked perfectly for me for more than 5 years. The full size one is actually a replacement for an older Cuisinart that finally went kaput!

I would hope that Cuisinart is offering trouble-free replacements of any appliances recalled. They have an excellent reputation so I would guess that to be the case.

Thanks for posting this. I have one of the recalled models. It is rare I use the blade--mainly I use the machine for grating cheese, and rarely even for that. But I will order a replacement blade.

For those of you in the market for a food processor, note that at least 18 months ago, several Cuisinart models had a funky design where food can enter a nearly inaccessible and difficult to clean area at the top of the handle and defy any efforts to remove. Many complaints in Amazon reviews and other sources.

Perhaps they've fixed the problem but if you plan to buy a new one soon, check to see that the inside of the vessel is closed around where the handle connects. We wound up getting a Breville.

The Cuisinart link in the article did not work for me. This is the one I used to request a free replacement blade: https://recall.cuisinart.com/

I have a Ninja and absolutely love it. Both Ninja's (food processor and blender) get a lot of use; I don't think I'll even look at different brands if I ever need to replace either one.

I have an older DLC-5 with the affected blade. It doesn't get the use it should and my blade hasn't come apart.....Replacement ordered. I've had mine for over 20 years now.

Thanks for the link. I saw this on the news last night and meant to check my model, which is quite old. Luckily, the blade on mine has no rivets.

I have one and saw this on the news yesterday . I need to check my model . From what I heard they can go back to the very early models so having an older one does not make it a clear bill. I rarely use it but I have it setting out now so it's more accessible . I have a ninja too and I had a black and decker that was a workhorse , I loved it but I lost it to the flood . I would definitely buy it again if I needed to . Now that I have less ability in my hands these appliances are more useful for me .

Raven, the blade may have a model number on the top of the hub but that may not be your model number. The site asks for the specific model number. To find it, turn your base over and look for the specific model number. It may be hard to read as the text is molded to the base and is teeny tiny.

It may be hard to read ...

Yeah. I used glasses, a magnifying glass and a flashlight. Sometimes, with hard to read items like this, I've resorted to taking a photo and then enlarging and enhancing it in a photo program.

Oh, my word. A mouth injury wouldn't be good. But I'm Ok on the huge recall - Mine's Kitchen Aid and several years old. It sits out on the counter, weighing too much to comfortably take in and out of a cupboard or drawer.

Mine is a Kitchen Aid also. I saw that on the television last night.

Sue

Mine is recalled and I filled out the form! I hardly ever use that particular blade so it is no problem to wait for a replacement.

I have a DLC 8 It is on the recall list. Wow mine is very old so I guess it goes back to the original ones. It definitely has the little rivets.

Where is the form to fill out. I thought it was on the link but I didn't have anything to click on.

I have a 30 year old that still works fine. But I don't use it much, just when I want to grate carrots for carrot cake. I use to use it more when I made pickles to slice lots of cukes.

I have a huge Cuisinart FP-16 DH bought me a couple of years ago. I had to replace my old 20+ year-old machine because the plastic on the blades started cracking. Mine is not on the list but I am going to check the blade just in case it looks suspicious.
